I don't know how to post links, but this surely is a joke. Ole' Miss is doing away with their Rebel Mascot and adopting either a Shark, Black Bear, or Prepped Up Yuppie? Does political correctness have no end? This is stupid. There is a thread about it on the C-USA site.

This. It's about that time that Old Relic die (it's well past time, to be honest). Ole Miss should have some real balls and actually reverse their stance on making Admiral Ackbar their mascot, especially if George Lucas wants to play with that idea.

I've read on the C-USA board that Lucas has already said no on the Akbar thing.

Ole Miss has a legacy. Some people are okay with it, and some people are... not. Fine, whatever. But only a God-damned fool would think that the "nots" are gonna change their minds just because there's a different cartoon character on the sidelines.

Sharks with lazers are pretty much the scariest thing known to man. They should have that as their mascot.

I guess "Thunder Horse" was already taken....

I say leave the mascot as is. It's history, and has no right or wrong - just historical fact...

Leave the colonel, bring back the confederate flag and colored dorms. That's what the recruits and their families want to see.

Sure. Why not throw in a few slaves, while you're at it? There are still a few places in the world where you can go buy some. If you're going to get ridiculous, you might as well go all out...

What color are the dorms going to be? A nice brick red is good. However, I prefer the natural brown log cabin look. But it would be hard to make a dorm that big without it looking like a Bass Pro Shop. I suppose white is a popular color for buidlings as well. Now days you can get the exterior in almost any shade as long as you have the right materials. The important thing is how well they are put together on the inside.

Import some Amish carpenters and you can have 'em up in a day...

Ole Miss has a real nice campus, very fine co-ed undergrads, and an above average Downtown.
Fun party school also. Do the PC Police come after Tennessee next?

The New York Yankees- named after Soldiers who invaded and attacked their own countrymen, killing one quarter of the men of working age in the entire southeastern region of its own nation, men who burned civilian's home and farms.

Cleveland Indians- All the rest of the Native American named teams are being forced to do so, why not them?

Milawaukee Brewers- Clearly this name glamorizes alcohol comsumption and thus promotes alcoholism.

Pittsburgh Pirates- Glamorizes murderers and thieves.

Los Angeles Angels- Puts forth the idea their are heavenly beings. This must cause rankor in the athiest world view.

San Francisco Giants- Fat and tall people all over the world should be offended by this name.

San Diego Padres- See note for Angels.

New York Giants- See San Francisco Giants

Washington Redskins- See Cleveland and Atlanta

San Franciscio 49ers- Named after a group of men who raped the land and caused environmental damage in their greedy quest for riches

Kansas City Chiefs- See Washington, Cleveland, and Atlanta

Oakland Raiders- Refer to Pittsburgh

New Orleans Saints- Refer to San Deigo and Los Angeles

Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Please see Pittsburgh and Oakland.

THESE ARE ALL TOTALLY OFFENSIVE AND POLITICALLY INCORRECT. BAN THEM NOW!! And this is only pro team. Let's get the college, high schools and middle schools too!

And don't even get me started with South Carolina or Jacksonville St. Gamecocks. Mascots representing an illegal fighting chicken? Not to mention it has the word **** in the name. That has a double meaning in today's society and could strike fear in the hearts of some.

Let's ban'em all. We can simply allow teams to write their school name in plain block form on a white shirt with black ink.

Since the world has decided to go silly on us, let's start a reverse trend in political correctness. Let's use names that are descriptive of the area where the schools are located...

Rename Rutgers Scarlet Knights the University of New Jersey @ssholes
Syracuse could be the D!cks, instead of the Orange
Rename UConn Conservative U
As long as Wanny remains at Pitt, you could rename them Kittens
Cincinnati gets renamed Ohio State Inferior
Louisville could sell the right to name their mascot to the highest bidder (God help'em if Yum! wins this bid)
USF could be the Tampa Buckaneers (drop Bay to differentiate themselves from their NFL roommates)
WVU actually fits. Although we could substitute Hillbillies (or Rednecks, for that matter) for Mountaineers

For non-conference teams...

UCF could be the Mouseketeers, and so on - as your imagination decides...
