True, but I think the point is that the ACC is hardly overwhelming better than the BigEast this year.

No worries....when USF beats Miami at the end of the year we'll help restore the conference's honor. 04-rock

Good point. His posts are getting older than hearing about how bad the Big East is, and that's saying something.

Or better than they did vs. Miami last year.

Our league sucks and we understand that. I just don't like being reminded every other day. Oh well

RE: Beleaguered Big East sinking to new lows
well....the conference does suck this year no doubt. Too bad we don't get the luxury of a down year like everyone else. The pac 10 sucked the past several years and the big 10 has had some really bad years lately but they get a pass when they are down namely because even in a down year they had a top 5 team (usc or osu) we don't have that and usually don't.....sigh

You know how I feel about Pitt's ability to defend BE's honor so far. I am sure they will win some games they are not suppose to and ruin someone's chance for BCS or something before end of the season. I just hope it is not UCONN.

So you expect Pitt to lay down and just let your freaking team go to a BCS. Its up to UConn to beat Pitt. And if they FAIL its UConn's fault, not Pitt's.

The article in The Sporting News, which the OP linked to, seems to have been triggered by the Rutgers loss to Tulane on Saturday. Maybe the BE does deserve to eat some crow about all the OOC losses so far.

But considering that TSN predicted Tulane to go 0-12 (we're currently 2-2), they might want to save a coupl bites of that bird for themselves.

Sadly, there's no reason to think we will beat Miami. Miami manhandled us last year like they manhandled Pitt this year. And heck, Pitt is probably better than us.

I don't think you can take too much looking head to head with so few contests. If that was the case, you could say the CAA is as good as the ACC the last few years. I don't know the exact record, but I know several CAA teams have notched wins against the ACC, and also have pushed them to the wire in close losses.

That said I do think the ACC is clearly better than the BE this year, but when we've been as good if not better the last 4-5 years I can live with it... just hope it doesn't continue past this season.

That may be true, crazed. But the media isn't dismissing the CAA. It's The BEast they dismiss, and anything that can be shown in a negative light is always used against The BEast, whether it has any validity in fact or not...

So maybe we should just forfeit the game right now and save some money on the bus ride down to Joe Robbie stadium....

Not on your freaking life! I separate my analysis from my rooting interest. "Objectively", the games at WVU and Miami (especially Miami) seem to have "loss" written all over them. That's just the way i see the facts, namely that we've struggled against some really patsy competition, and were routed by a Florida team that looks like a pale shadow of the recent Urban Meyer powerhouses.

But that doesn't mean i'm not rooting for the Bulls to smash both of those teams to bits and look forward to them doing so. 04-rock

I don't require anyone here to be a Big East homer, but there is such thing as wearing other posters out by posting nothing but excessive amounts of negative smear. If this bothers anyone that much, I'm all ears. Otherwise, it's best to debunk the argument, instead of simply slamming the poster himself.

I'll state just one thing about 2006. The media had no choice but to give the BE its deserved respect. But, I also recall some backhanded jabs, including ESPN's constantly going over the list of "top one-loss teams", all while RU, UL and WVU were all at the time undefeated. Then Flutie's 5-0 bowl prediction... saying "it's all about the matchups".

But, with the BE, when it's ONE bad year, it's all the sudden excessive gloom. It's pretty clear to see the bias. We do deserve guff for having a crappy year, but it's really disproportionate compared to other conferences.

The media is just catering to its most wide spread interested customer base; that's it. ESPN for one is a self promoting money machine.
There just is not as much interest in the BE as there is other conferences, end of story. Yea,the league has not shown it on the field so far this year, but my guess is when the dust settles is will not look as bad at the end as it seems right now.
