Where have we been improving? I have seen our offensive production go down every week and the defense stay at the same level of sucking.

I haven't said we would win at all, and it wouldn't shock me if we lost by a couple TD's to you guys. This is clearly a rebuilding year with the most lettermen in the nation lost (34), new staff etc. I do think we are a better team than any of the teams you've beaten though and have a chance to win this one. Truth is I'd be happy with a 6-6 or 7-5 this year anything beyond that would be gravy so I'm not even really expecting to win this game. If we do however watch out cause we'll only get better the next few years.

Well you've actually been playing teams that field defenses. It's only natural that you score less against VaTech and UNC then you would against Tulsa and Memphis.

You think it might have had something to do with playing the two most talented teams on our schedule on the road the last two weeks?
Seriously those teams were extreamly focused and still have at minimum top 25 caliber talent IMO along with NFL / Hall of fame caliber coaches plus we faced them on the road.
We led mid way the 3rd quarters in both games. I can see a hell of a lot more positives than negatives the last two weeks myself even if the wheels completetly came off the final 20 minutes of each game. We showed potiental.
Our first string can play with a lot of teams though and certainly CUSA level competition. No one in this league has that level of talent, depth, or coaches those teams do.

Point was if we win the conference THIS year playing the toughest teams on the road and with what we lost, you just as well hang it up for the forseeable future. We shouldn't even be in the conversation with only 5 returning starters and losing 35 letterman, rookie coaching staff getting their on the job etc. If we win this game that signals something very very bad to the rest of CUSA.

Dude. We own ECU. We'll have the most talent in the league next year and the most complete team. This year should be showing anybody that, at least. Is there really any doubt as to who the most complete team in C-USA is right now? It's USM. We've played countless players this season on both sides of the ball. We rotate 12 DL and 6-7 CB during a game. 5-6 LB will see the field on a typical drive. Offense, I believe like 17 people have caught a pass this season. Two true freshman WR just now seeing time. 4 new OL starters, 1 of which missed last week and forced another new guy to start. Only given up 5 sacks on the season. First time any of our RB have seen significant time, and it's the strength of our offense, behind the new OL.
Everything is adding up for USM right now. There's a group of about 4-5 schools in C-USA that has the potential to really break away from the rest of the conference in terms of quality of team on a yearly basis. USM/UH/ECU/SMU/UCF Hard to argue otherwise.

I think UH would argue that point about talent. My oh my have USM fans changed their tones after the beatdown they received in South Carolina.

In other words, I'm getting this vibe that you're feeling pretty confident that you'll win Saturday?

I've been saying this for months. One game doesn't change how I feel and what I think.

It's homecoming, biggest crowd of the year. It's a night game. We've won 11 straight home games. Dominated every team we've played at home this year. USM owns ECU. USM hasn't forgotten Greenville last year (or Houston), and they've made a point to redeem themselves in these two games specifically this year and prove a point to USM fans that have doubted them. ECU isn't bad. I just think our offense has to start really clicking sooner rather than later. We put up 41 last week without DeAndre. Positive sign for our offense. Honestly, if this game was in Greenville, I'd pick ECU. But, all the factors thrown in, I see no reason why I shouldn't be confident in USM to win this game.
I love watching Dewayne Harris play, BTW.

I think we'll blow you out Saturday personally. Predicted 49-13 against Marshall and they thought I was crazy...41-16 is pretty close to that.

It signals how pathetic this conference is at football.

Definately a fair assessment, all things considered. There's no doubt that USM owns ECU...but I think it's fair to credit Bower with the majority of that ownage...he was 12-5 I believe. L-Fed is 1-1.
Personally, I don't know what to make of our team right now. We've played some big boys...and they've worn us down. Gotta agree with Jonesing, we have hung well the majority of the games, that last few minutes is what kills us. If we can get out early and build a 20 pt lead in the first half, I think we're golden. If it's tied or close at half, I don't think we can hold on. I don't think we'll be as chippy against USM as we were against UNC and VT...I don't see us putting 100+ yards of penalties out there. I do see us changing up our gameplan a little. If I were a betting man, I'd probably take USM....but certainly not in a blowout.
I thinking its going to be an old-school late 80's ECU-USM games...last play of the game, hell mary to win it....just hope we're on the winning end of it this time.

Until ECU can find some defense, every game is a crap shoot.
I think it is fair that USM is favored in the game.

"Owning" us is the only thing you guys have had to hang your hat on for years now, and you aren't even that good at that anymore. Until USM can actually win this new version of CUSA, beat some top 25 teams and powerhouse programs like Virgina Tech, West Virginia, Boise or draw within 15k fans of us, no one here would trade anything with you. Own away. We just won two titles obviously at some point you have to rebuild. The fact we can have to totally rebuild and still be a contender says all that really needs to be said about where our program is. Fedora was handed a solid program and's done nothing. This is his third year. If you don't beat us in a rebuilding year like this one at home, you just as well hang the "owning" up too.
