TCU would be a home run on so many levels except geography. Academically, which is huge, TCU does it for the BE leaders. Academics is another reason that you wont see Houston listed in the BE rumors, besides their success only being recent. TCU is tried and true, academically, and athletically.
Depends on who you compare it to.
Is TCU academically comparable to Georgetown and Notre Dame? No.
Is TCU academically comparable to Pitt and Syracuse? Probably not.
Is TCU academically comparable to Villanova? Close--not there yet, but close.
As private schools go in Texas, TCU trails Rice, SMU, Baylor in regional academics, but it's certainly not Houston, which opponents used to call "Cougar High" when it joined the SWC in the late 1970's (UH was founded at the site of an old high school south of downtown Houston).
Compared to the usual suspects, ECU, UCF, Memphis etc..

I doubt it will happen pending alumni and business support as there is really no connection in terms of history and fan appeal with Big East schools outside of former C-USA mates in Louisville, UC, and South Florida.
"A step down" LOL, Are you really serious?
One other thing, TCU is in no position to make any demands to the BE. The BE will tell them to jump, and TCU will say how high? Simple as that.

I agree... just as there are NO good reasons for "news" like this to get reported. Instead of information, the only thing today's media seems to be good for is

You are delusional if you think a move from the MWC to the Big East would be in any way, shape or form a "step down" - - - period.

Even your history with Cincinnati, Lousiville and USF isn't extensive.
By the way, how much history was there with the MWC before you joined??

I like TCU, but I say no to them in the conference.

I don't like the idea. What is 'East' about Dallas Texas? Too much cultural difference, not to mention geography.

RE: TCU? BE?
What is traditionally BE about Tampa, or Cincy? It will be the same flight time for most of the league to USF as it is to Dallas.
Bring them on. Only non-AQ option that has some juice.

Not much, though at least Florida is on the east coast.
But FWIW, i couldn't have blamed the Big East at all had it decided not to invite USF on geographical/cultural grounds.

Ok, so why isn't the Pac10 or Big12 going after TCU? Maybe they understand that despite their recent success on the field, TCU is a small school with a small following that brings very little MONEY potential to the table?

The MWC has been on par with the BE for the last few years now. Rankings say as such. That said, the BE can help TCU and vice-versa and neither is in a position to be telling each other how high to jump. Simple as that.
