Hey Nova....stay where U R...we'll all step down to FCS!
This conference is in no place to compete this year week in and week out. UC came back on OU after they let up in the 3rd quarter.

With coaching turnover like it is in this conference it won't change. And our commish would rather go ater FCS teams rather than teams that can have a chance of winning some respectable games for the conference. It is becoming more and more clear the gap on the field and in the media spreading further and further apart for the top 5 conferences.

Maybe that's the goal of the Providence Mob...as the Catholic Hoop Schools want to secretly turn the Big East FOOTBALL Conf into say the new WAC or SunBelt so that HOOPS will always be at center stage?

LOL. Yes the Big East is having a bad year. and yesterday the league in my book actually played better than expected I dint think Rutgers,WV or Cincy would win. Both WV and UC were matched vs higher ranked opponents. The league will get criticized this year but, the reality is that this is the first off year since the new Big East was formed. It will be fine.

You know and I know thats not what the national media and tv people think. And that can dominoe real quick. Next football tv deal doesn't look to good, $$$ and time slots, which means recruiting dwindles and program budgets are stagnant which runs coaches and their staffs off. It all is intertwined starting with the tv contract. And if we don't have a product that people want to watch then we're in trouble. Thats why we need to expand to increase the odds in our favor to have more than 1-2 teams worth a crap every year. And not with starting with Nova.....

The reality as you should know by now is that the media will ALWAYS refer to the Big East as the weakest. If you remember last year we were criticized fr not having a pre-season ranked team, that die out once the season started. This year we will hear plenty of that until our teams step in the bowl games. If they dont then we wil have to do it next year. There is plenty of young talent in our league and we will be fine.
But if you want to drive yourself crazy listening to all the media go right ahead.

I know that they've always used us as the red headed step child. Unfornately it has played a part in actually affecting the conference negatively. Better bowl wins mean better bowl matchups, and with the media/tv giving us the business it becomes harder and harder to get a worthy bowl matchup to prove ourselves, with the excpetion of the BCS. The wins by UL and WVU in the BCS only carry for so long/much. USF and Pitt need to be able to finish a season and win those bowl matchups....and thats not picking thats just an honest observation of a couple of teams in the conference.

Thanks to the media/tv/coaching turnover this conference is starting over probably sitting about 8th in conference respectability this year. Expansion of the right teams will help the football side of things alot.

Two things
#1 The bowls are interested in schools that bring BIG crowds they are not as interested in their records. This is why a 6-6 ND team would be more attractive to any bowl than an 11-1 USF team. Is reality. If we want beter bowl match ups then our fan base needs to grow and travel.
#2 The ONLY expansion addition that would help the Big East's image in the media is TCU. This is the reason that I would like to see them added to the league. You could bring in Memphis also to serve as a bridge to them and also add to basketball equation. Will it happen? Who knows but our league struggles have made them more attractive as an addition. Ading UCF,ECU, Memphis or Temple without TCU does NOTHING to change our perception in the media's eyes.

So we either invite TCU or our teams will have to step up rest of season.I highly doubt our champion goes undefeated rest of the way but if our champion goes 10-2 it will be ranked in top 15 and if they win our BCS bowl that will quiet all the media BS.

ACC sucked balls for many years and it did not affect their TV contract. They suck this year too. BE should get a nice bump with the next TV contract. That being said, we do need more teams. We need to add the Philly and Orlando markets.

TV contracts have little to do with sucking. The ACC got a boost because teams like Miami and FSU are perceived to draw viewers, whether they are good or not.The Big East lacks those kind of big names.

Just look at the bowl affiliations: the ACC has clearly better matchups than us, and for the same reason.

If TCU and Boise were to lose just one conference game it would silence the talking heads a little bit.

Only if the Big East were to get some big wins. Either of those teams losing is going to help our perceptions as a league if we don't win a game that matters.

And its not just TCU and Boise. Note that Utah and Nevada from those respective conferences are now ranked.
