Okay fine. Hide behind your little buddies so you don't have to be a man and explain your opinions. Just scream them from the mountain top and duck into your hole.

You really need to leave the guy alone. He doesn't have to explain anything to you. This is the same problem we have on the other board. No one can voice their opinion without someone getting upset.

Explaining your posts on a message board doesn't define you as a man. I'm sure both of you are in your own respects, but men are not defined by what happens on a message board. He did you no wrong - if your ego is hurt, that's your problem, he (nor I) owes you any kind of response.

Whatever. You're reading comprehension needs some touch up work though. I never said anything about a message board action defining what a man is...

I implied that a man is someone who will stand by what they say and won't hide behind bull ****. Hence my, "scream from the mtn top/hide in hole"

I know all you Troy boys cling to each other pretty tight though, so I guess it is pointless to try to get any of you to explain the few thoughts that pass through your heads. My bad! I'm sorry if I like to have some substance in a conversation instead of just, "Nope, you're wrong. Bye!"

I've explained myself many times on the other board. It's not the explaining part that makes me not want to respond. It's the nature in which you, and some on the troy board, converse with people. Myself, and BTH, would probably talk football with you if you weren't being a jerk about it. It's healthy to dicuss opinions, but I don't think it's healthy when everytime I want to talk Troy football, someone gets bent out of shape.

That's the main reason why I just don't want to talk about Troy Football or the UAB loss right now. Everyone's mad and they're taking out on eachother. I don't want to be a part of that.

Well, then you should have saved yourself the trouble and not responded in this first place? I don't know what to tell you. I'm an ass-hole. Always have been, always will be. I don't care if you like me or what I say.

I don't read the other board, so I have no idea what people are saying over there.

Plain and simple, Larry Blakeney has reached his limit. He cannot do anything more than he has and has actually stopped us in many occasions (listed above) in reaching higher. Piss poor coaching. Plain and simple.

I've listed my arguments in the original post. Do you have an opinion TroyFB05? I promise I will cherish it forever.

I do have an opinion. But it doesn't appear that we can have a civil conversation about it. If you want my opnion you'll have to dig through some threads on gotroytrojans. For now, we're going have to agree to disagree.

I will say this. I have not been perfect through all this, but I have sense settled down. At this point, I'm really not in the mood for a message board battle.

Not a Troy fan but IMO you are way out of line with your responce to his post and you need to take this to the Troy message board.

First of all this is a SBC message board, so this thread is fine where it is.

I am sorry if I have a problem with people who tell me I'm wrong and then don't have the balls to say as to why they think that way.

Just add as well, Indian...if you don't like it then refer back to my original post. Preferably the part where I state that you can go away.
Not that it takes any courage on my part to post on the internet that I don't think I will, but I will post it anyway.

While I do not know the issues between you and the other poster I do know I don’t like you and the other poster seems to be “OK”

Of course if I knew you both, and had a clue what you were posting about I might like you better and be on your side but I don't so I’ll take the other guys side if you don’t mind, but I do not mind if you do not want to go away.

Some times Paul of Troy's posts are entertaining,
Sometimes they are enlightening because they offer a "counter perspective",
but sometimes they are simply Stupid.

I think this tread has quickly gone down the "stupid" path.

To his original point, i think anyway - the discussion of firing Larry is easy after a bad loss. Its also easy after loosing a close game to big boy on the road, or a heart-breaking defeat in over-time in bowl games.

But it makes no sense when you look at and get to the logical conclusion to that question - OK we fired him - now what. Someone gave the Dickey example - look at where that program is now - but i dont think that is a good example for Troy, apples and oranges comparing Troy to Denton.

Larry has done more with less than any other coach I know. He figures out creative ways to get the most talent possible into Troy (all within the rules). But sometimes that "less" part bites us in the rear. That however does not get him a free pass on Coaching desicions, and hiring a firing, that rest soley with him. However, he has shown over 20 years that he will fire friends, let "Troy" people go, and will revamp the staff as needed to get the right person in there. We loose good coaches becase we cant pay them, we fire/dont retain coachs who dont perform - again that all rests with Larry, and i think 20 years worth of hirings and firings have proven he can make those tough desicions.

We are averiging around 8 wins a years for the last few years, and have more success in terms of wins and bowl "appearances" than any one else in the belt, prior to moving up, he had us in the I-AA playoffs 7 out of the 8 years we were eligible. Consistancy builds programs, not revolving door coaches. (We've had 4 loosing seasons in 20 years - how many of our conference mates, or any non-AQ conference team can say that.)

If we were to fire LB - we would be looking at 2 potential senarios:
1. Similar to UNT - leave a measure of success, make a bad hire and begin a decade of losses and take 3 steps back (i hope your next hire is better), or
2. Let's use Tulane as an example - they got Tommy Bowden in and gave him his first head coaching gig - he goes 12-0, get ranked number 5 in the country, leaves, and the return to revolving door laughing stock. There efforts to shut that door have failed and they have taken 3 steps back.

Paul's theory seems to me "somethings got to be better than this" - and i dont think that is a very well thouhgt out theory.

RE: My thoughts
I guess the issue as presented is whether or not Larry has taken the Trojans as far as he possible could. If that is the issue, what is the response to the answer (either yes he has or not he hasn't). Further, is there anyone out there within Troy's budget range that can come in and preceivably do a better job without conducting an entire program rebuild?

I think that is a fairly consise summation.
My answer - I think Troy's best oppertinity to continue to move forward is with Larry at the helm.
And I guess that begs the question - where are we trying to get to - what is "forward" for us?

If its:
Winning consistantly - Check
Winning and competeing for Conference titles - Check
Getting to Bowl Games - Check
Consistantly Winning Bowl Games - _____
Beating AQ's at home - Check
Beating AQ's on the road - ______
Getting Votes - Check
Consistantly Ranked - _______
BCS Busting - _____

As a football proram, I believe we need to stive to be a 8 or 9 win teams every year, get in and win bowl games, knock of AQ teams when we can, and eventually hope to get that magical-stars-aligned 12-0 team, and afterwards not fall off the face of the map.

Given all the factors at play, including budget restraints and the fact that we are a 7,000 student main campus population in rural southeast Alabama, I think LB gives us the best chance to continue to grow. I get as pissed off as anyone else at times with some of the decisions our staff makes - but when you look at the other examples we have to compare our present contition to - it leads me back to the position that LB is the best choice for our program today.

Sorry for the long posts - I'll move on to another thread/topic.

Sorry for the long posts - I'll move on to another thread/topic.

I can get on board with some of the things you say. For instance, I agree that it is a good thing to win 8-9 games a year. It is obviously better than winning less. Obviously as well, it is good to consistently win conference championships.

However, we haven't had an AQ team play at Troy since 2007. Plus, I don't know if you were at the Missouri game (which is probably the best FB game I've ever been to) but it took miracle after miracle for us to win that game. The stars lined up just right.

It seems though that you believe that there are only two paths to go down if we let Blakeney go; either go 12-0 and suck forever, or simply suck forever. I just don't get that "logic".

My point is that he has leveled off. He can go no further. He has PROVEN it, consistently.

Both of our last bowl games we had the lead late. Then choked.

We were up 31-3 at LSU late, and BLEW IT. How in the hell do you lose that game?

Hell, all he had to do last week was run the damn ball and we win. That's despite our horrendous defense. AND, no prevent defense on the last play? What!? Those are just the worst ones as well.

If getting votes to be in the top 25 really make you that happy then I guess he is right up your alley, but I just see it has being rated between 35 and 25.

Now, if you don't think it is possible to get another successful coach then we are simply going to have to disagree. Yes, I realize that a certain douchebag named Tommy Tooterville keeps stealing our OC's away. Yes, I also realize that Troy doesn't have the type of money that Auburn or Alabama does.

But it comes down to this...

Either you are satisfied with mediocrity to above average or you want your program to reach higher and obtain success at a new level. Apparently, that includes beating UAB.

So by your logic, "mediocrity to above average" is winning confernce titles and averaging about 8 wins a year? So by that measure, the only way Troy would "reach higher and obtain sucess at a new level" would, i guess, to average 10 wins plus each season, be ranked in the top 25 consistantly. IF that's the case then i still stand by my belief that LB gives us our best chance to get there and remain there for the reasons set out in my first reply above. And to me that's an easy answer.

The real problem i see is what we do when he decides to retire - which is probably not that far down the line. We are a not an easy school to sell to an up and coming head coach unless they are extremely "hungry" for the opertunity - in which case our ultimate success rate will likely be very low, and we will have a revolving door situation. The other option is to become a "Re-tread" factory for Coachs wanting a second chance -and that 2 has its challenges.

BUT i think you are right in many regards, and i think there are good, quality coaches that can work for what we will pay them - just not many.

This all comes down to not blowing leads in the forth quarter - something we have consistantly done in the last 4 years - in the short term - i would expect there will be some shakeups on the defensive staff at years end.

You do know we play 12 games a year, right?

To hell with the defensive changes! If our HEAD FOOTBALL COACH can't walk over to Kenny and say, "Hey dumb***, we are up by six with just over a minute left and they only have one timeout. RUN the mutha fu**in ball!!" then he needs to be replaced.

If our HEAD FOOTBALL COACH has a 28 point lead in the 4th and doesn't run the ball, then he needs to be replaced.

If our HEAD FOOTBALL COACH has a lead late in two bowl games and doesn't run the clock, he needs to be replaced.

Yes, I agree we need a new defensive coordinator, but your loyalty to man who constantly throws games away is disheartening.

Actually 13 with a bowl game - but yes I can read a schedule and count.
Well - the adult conversation was fun while it lasted - please feel free to return to your typical banter.

That's of course assuming we make it to a bowl game.

As for the rest of it...

Boo hoo, waa waa, (insert random crying noise).

Which translates into... (I can't handle being talked to any other way than gentle and soft. Please don't press me too far because I have no good reasons to support a burned out old coach who couldn't coach his way out of bed in the morning.)

You people and your super sensitive egos drive me crazy. "Mommy, that man looked at me mean!" No wonder you people stay on the Blakeney bandwagon. Hell, I bet your afraid to fart for fear of shitting your pants, let alone change the head coach of your football team.

Although your over blown ego is sometimes amusing, it does get old.
And when i fart i generally think - damn that sticks, too much brocholi last night.
See - i was right, the adult conversation has now officially ended.

Well, then go away.

I didn't make you read the thread, did I?

Though, with what I've read of yours, I doubt you would recognize an adult conversation. I doubt you have the reasoning ability or cognitive awareness to converse with what you consider adults. Well, wait a second, I guess the key phrase there would be "what you consider adults". Nah, you're right, you'll be fine.

A couple suggestions-
If you don't want someone to read your thread - then don't post it.
If you want to engage in a conversation - then stop acting like a child
If you want to be taken seriously - get over yourself.

If you want to be taken seriously - get over yourself.

If you want to act like some kind of superior "adult" then stop getting goated back in so easily.

Second, the post that apparently sent you into this convo finding frenzy has nothing derogatory in it...

"You do know we play 12 games a year, right?

It seems to me you are just looking for a chance to throw a fit. I post for people to read. But if the mere notion of you replying upsets you so much, then don't reply. There are plenty of other threads looking for your "superior" touch.

Thirdly, and finally, as a person is more removed from social influences than most people, I'm uncertain how I could be less full of myself. Just because I do not adhere to what you consider "socially acceptable" behavior I guess that makes me "full of myself". If that is the case, then blow it out of your ass. Blow it hard.
