granted, it might have been a case of who we were playing and once he gets into the conference games and face a real dee like yours he won't be putting up faux numbers.

i can't wait until willie 'chasing greatness' taggart can bring in a running back.

It's going to be another rough year for your if you're bragging about what Rainey did in a 49-10 loss.

Maybe I was a little hard on the kid last year, but again, my only memory (other than the 62 points we put up ) was Rainey getting chased down from 10 yards behind by a freshman safety who took the ball from him.

not so fast my friend.....i have it on good authority that he was ran down from behind by a freshman and stripped of the ball on one occasion.

which makes him no running back according to that source.

i argued at the time that it made him no 'track star' but good running backs are not always the fastest guy on the team. speed is great but the good ones have elusiveness as well. ability to read a hole and ability to make people miss.

make no mistake.....rainey got those yards because he was going against a weak defense and was handed the ball 30 freakin' times.

just axe theborracho. he turned a post about rainey into an indictment on how bad wku sucks. (which is not where i was going...i was simply acknowledging mr. rainey...i know we suck)

Rainey either had a fluke game, or he is good. Kind of makes me worried about your O Line too. Our guys looked awfully small against Minnesota. Your line isn't as big, but still.

our o-line was awful last year. they did get a bit better as the season went on but i thought they would still be a question mark. i didn't watch the game so i don't know how they looked saturday.

but you win ballgames with your lines. last year both of ours sucked and it showed in the results. sounds like we're still very small on the dee line and last year those guys just got overpowered. we did switch to a 4-3 from a 3-4 so that will have some impact.

by the end of last year we were moving the ball well but many times couldn't punch it in and settled for field goals.

It takes a few years to get size and depth. I remember when we were one deep and the O Line was 290lbs. You guys should win about 3-4 this year.

Interesting video from yUK head coach Joker Phillips talking about WKU and Rainey. He obviously hasn't watched to much film referring to Rainey as very fast and saying he reminds him of Derrick Locke. Almost any adjective for a good tailback can be used for Rainey besides very fast, which is just the opposite of Locke.
