For some reason it irks me that they have done more in 10 years then most MAC schools have done in 50.

They have more money, they can demand more from their program.

Combined with Rutgers and Syracuse, they bring the NY television market. If WMU was in any of the five Burroughs and playing 1-A we'd be in the Big East as well. Temple was only in the Big East because it was in Philly, but they couldn't even compete to the level of Vandy, Northwestern or Duke and lost regularly to mid-majors which is a no no even for the worst of the BCS teams.

I will be pulling for them very hard come Sept. 4th

Yep, and it's the same reason why USF was on the straight-shot expressway to a BCS conference so quickly too. Location and media market size can do wonders.
