RE: Boise wants NCAA mandated home-home series
This would be a disaster for most non AQ-BCS teams. It makes sense for say Michigan to schedule Central Michigan because they get multiple home games to sell out at the Big House. Now suppose mandated home and home games are the rule. Which will likely make more money, a game at Michigan and Central Michigan or game at Michigan and a game at Pitt? Boise State itself might do OK in this, but I guarantee most non AQ-BCS teams would think twice before signing on.

The other indirect effect of a ruling like this would be a lot of "home" games at neutral sites where the "home" team would be paying the visiting team much a much larger % than they get. That's the only way I could see for most MAC/WAC/Sun Belt teams able to compete to even get the big names.

The bigger stadium schools would indeed try to do what you suggest so such things would have to be accounted for.

The benefit to college football of NCAA made schedules is you could make sure the bigger schools aren't just loading up on cupcakes as conferences like the Big 10 do now just to pad their record before getting into league play. It would be better for college football if some "bigger" programs actually had to go out and play more top teams and even some mid level ones away from home instead of getting 3 or 4 home games with the bulk against "sure" wins.

Doing something like Boise suggests would also be a step towards making the polls more "accurate" as the advantage of the money programs would be reduced quite a bit.

Doubt if it would ever happen because money is power, but not really a bad idea.

If the NCAA mandated home-home series for all schools, there would be several major colleges leaving the NCAA about 5 seconds after this ruling. Anybody remember the CFA?

It will be nice to stop hearing about Boise after Virginia Tech is finished with them.

It's not the job of programs in the Big 6 conferences to help out Boise State's home attendance. Boise is a bunch of hypocrites. If they feel so strongly about this they wouldn't do one-and-dones like they're going to do with Ole Miss next year.

And in 2012 Boise completes a Two for Zero home series with Miami (Ohio) that they just signed and started last season.

There was also an quote from Boise's AD, president, whatever saying they wouldn't be traveling to Idaho again after they left the WAC.

I do agree there would be some positives here. I think it would be a big step to pushing a lot of schools down to I-AA too though and don't like more rules from the NCAA.

RE: Boise wants NCAA mandated home-home series
I think it would be cool if the NCAA would match all Top 30 teams (save over a 4-5 year period) for home-home games...then have the next 30 do the same...and so on...and so on..

Having ONE game a year schedule by the NCAA will not hurt anyone...well...except those schools that don't want to play anyone (i.e. Florida, Rutgers, etc...).
