"Law" enforcement in the US
Isn't this an issue that truly transcends partisan lines?

How about when they start going through your checks, and the police call your husband, suspicious you were clearing out the bank account?

Quote:With no warning one weekday morning, investigators entered an organic grocery with a search warrant and ordered the hemp-clad workers to put down their buckets of mashed coconut cream and to step away from the nuts.
Then, guns drawn, four officers fanned out across Rawesome Foods in Venice. Skirting past the arugula and peering under crates of zucchini, they found the raid's target inside a walk-in refrigerator: unmarked jugs of raw milk.
"I still can't believe they took our yogurt," said Rawesome volunteer Sea J. Jones, a few days after the raid."

There's a lot wrong with that sentence. First of all, it's Los Angeles. California. Second of all, it's an organic grocery store. Is it even legal for law enforcement to give an order that it is not possible to follow?

Now, you all know I am lockstep in incredulity with yall on this, but I always wonder what would people say if, for instance, those checks were illigitimately withdrawn, or the raw food led to an outbreak of food borne disease that killed a bunch of kids.
I think the Grand Army of the Commitariat would demand to know WHY WHY WHY didn't the appropriate authorities ACT ACT ACT!
Just thinkin outloud.

I understand your point.
1. About the checks. See the 4th Amendment.
In our country where gov't siezures of cash and goods allegedly associated w/ the war on drugs is commonplace, I get really worried that this sort of extortion (quite literally 'highway robbery') is being brought to airports.
2. About the milk. Require it to be labeled "unpasteurized". Come up w/ appropriate guidelines for dairy operations and packaging. Have spot inspections at dairies. Call it homicide if people die when a dairy breaks these rules. All of this is fine.
But it's INSANE to be regulating food like this (and spending tax dollars to do it). People who knowingly choose to ingest raw foods have that right. And the regulators who get involved should either recognize that (and concentrate on the issues at hand) or be shown the door!

Any police officer that would pull a weapon in this situation is simply a jack booted thug. It is crap like this that makes people HATE the police.
