I understand, but (in regards to the OP) I wouldn't go around publicizing that he said that (implying that you believe it), because it's downright ridiculous.

RE: 664 yards of total offense on 79 plays
Offense is starting to click but it was mostly against the 2nd and 3rd Defense. Our problem will be getting a healthy Defense on the field. Justin Dixon seems like he is going to be a monster and the thought of him and Alfi Hill on the field together next year gives me goose bumps.

More important was how cool the Stadium looked from the EndZone. Totally different feel for Ficklen. Can't wait for Sept 5th. Nice showing for Meet The Pirates. Long lines for autographs.

Tulane and UCF are now the only teams in C-USA not running the spread. If someone was crazy enough to install an option offense, a la Georgia Tech, they'd do well. You'll dig the change. Don't worry.

On a serious note. Can't argue w the WR comment.

ECU doesn't just have solid defenses. People forget where Chris Johnson came from.

Harris could be better than Crabtree.

I'm really hoping somebody puts together a quality highlight film for Dwayne Harris. Maybe the guy that made the one for CJ would be willing to do it.

Wow, pumped up over a scrimmage against backup defensive players. That is a new one to me.

We could go back to debating North Texas and Louisiana Tech instead 01-wingedeagle

Nice photo. Until about 5 years ago, Dowdy-Ficklen reminded me a lot of the stadium I have been to the 2nd most number of time (with D-F number three): Scott Field in Starkville. Which is a compliment from me.

But overall nicer because, umm, the restrooms in Starkvegas are rather disgusting. "Urinary trough" is the most delicate way to describe it the lone feature that is a negative.

Ten years ago, both had an upper deck on one side with a large jumbotron at one end zone and athletic building on the other. Scott field now has upper decks with both --- but they have just temp seating in the end zone opposite of the building, not a finished product like this one.

When I said pumped up, I mainly was referring to the statement that other CUSA fans should be worried about ECU because of this scrimmage. Now surely you agree that is a reach. By the way I am in no way saying ECU won't have a great offense and maybe won't win CUSA again.

03-yawn The "pirate" fan also convently left out the 1st team defense vs 2nd team offense as well as the 1st team offense vs 2nd team defense. Pointless really to make a distincton. It's all the same players that will play in the games on the 2 deep, like all scrimages and worked in younger guys too. The stats were combined stats all the way down to third string. Even the 4th string QB got some snaps. Positive that everyone seems to be picking things up. Must not be as difficult to install a those of you tried to say.

Hey WNC"pirate" next time why don't you post all the facts or just not because your post was misleading as hell.

I think the most nervous people in the room are ECU fans. To be honest I have no idea what to expect that first game against Tulsa. I know we have a lot of talent on the Offensive side of the ball and Ruff and Riley sound great but until it is all proven on the field against competition then it is mostly speculation. Not like we are going to run over CUSA East. Those games are always hard fought and I look for this year to be no different. I think some non ECU fans will be dissapointed if they expected us to tank. The really ignorant non ECU fans think there was the Holtz era and then the losing Era.
You have some fans of other CUSA East fans talking about undefeated seasons and a BCS run so I don't think that ECU fans being excited about our new offense is anymore delusional then other schools fans during the normal pre season kool aid drinking stage.

Not all speculation. Its been proven at least once already, in a big game with lots of distractions no less.

Watch the video, I say it's a closer preview of things to come than not.

I have watched that game 3 times and it makes me feel very good. The score not so much as watching Ruff and Riley on the sidelines. They looked completely in control and very methodical about the play calling. On the flip side I remember watching John Thompson take the field against Cincinnati a team we enjoyed a 12-3 record against, and he looked like a Deer in the headlights in route to a 40-3 thumping by UC. You just knew right away that he did not have the stuff to be HC. Part of the reason I have watched that Texas Tech Bowl game against Michigan St. three times. Like I said some of the regular ECU bashers on this board could be in for a long year if we do not fall off like they are hoping. Granted 3 Consecutive CUSA Championships in a row is a tall order for any program since 2 Consecutive CUSA Championships had never been accomplished before ECU but I like this teams attitude.

I agree 04-cheers More so I am pulling for him more then any other ECU Football Coach in our History because he is Family. For him to be successful at ECU would mean the world to a lot of us ECU Fans.

I was able to experience that with Coach Bower. When one of your own succeeds as your head coach it is a good feeling. Good luck to Coach Ruffin.

Not necessarily. We had pretty strong defenses the last two seasons and Houston running the same offense put a **** ton of yards on both of them like they did everyone.

I'm not so scared about the defense. Couldn't it just be an offense that works? Between Leach and all his disciples I think there is a lot to back that up. Like I said we know about what we have on defense even losing a lot of starters there are a lot of those guys have played significant snaps for us.

You UCF guys can't tell me you wouldn't be excited if Oleary had brought in the Texas Tech offensive staff and was commited to playing that style and tempo.
