I thought the longest day was in June?

Go to Normandy (in France, off "Omaha" beach) sometime, see all the White Crosses.

Not just there, but around the world - so many (thousands and thousands) of Americans who are buried not in their home towns where families can visit them when they want.

Yes, but which date in June?

June 6, 1944.

As horrific as that day (and following was). And so were two days in August 1945 for those (including Allied prisoners) in Japan.

And my point, if missed, was that the Scot depicted in the movie, The Longest Day, was indeed true and that exact Gent just passed. Historical and significant in my opinion.

Actually, there are graves that had been quietly emptied by families who wanted their hero returned to his home.

The crosses are left.
