Sounds a little scary. Foul trouble without ever guarding a Big East type athlete. The potential card played previously by Adam H and Souley. All I've seen of him was that uninspiring video, so he must have shown better than that overall to be drawing the interest. Probably worth the chance. One of the internationals has to pan out for us and I doubt we're beating them off with a stick for the spots.
My understanding is that Nemanja is a young 17. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I would bet that most of the '11 U.S. prospects are 1 or 2 years older. Can make a big difference at that age.

We have trouble developing players who live here so i'm sure the culture shock and possible language barrier won't impede his progress.

Oh Mick, you are such a card.

Sometimes I think he should just walk into a camp and toss some official offer forms down and let whoever wants to sign, sign.

Yes OneUChoppsfan, Nemanja just turned 17 a couple of months ago. He understands and speaks English well. The culture "shock" won't really be an issue with him either. Some schools think he can come in next year and see considerable PT right way.

This is another international player who is considering UC as well. 03-shhhh

FIBA U-17 World Championships: Top International Prospects
August 7, 2010
Likely the best performer on an otherwise disappointing Serbian squad, Nemanja Bezbradica confirmed most of the things we saw from him in our trip to Belgrade last February, and added to many of them.

With his solid size, very good athleticism and excellent body, Bezbradica was one of the more physically gifted big men seen in Hamburg. He's not an exceptionally skilled player at this point, but he's an extremely hard worker who plays with great toughness and energy and shows enough flashes of an all-around game to keep you intrigued about his development down the road.

Bezbradica tries to do all kinds of things offensively—whether it's putting ball the ball on the floor from the perimeter, shooting jumpers or posting up aggressively inside—with mixed results. His basketball IQ isn't very high at this stage, but it's nice to see him try to put his physical tools to good use on the court. Clearly his decision-making skills need some work—as does his 43% free throw shooting—but there is plenty to build on down the road.

Defensively, Bezbradica has great potential. He's big enough and tough enough to guard most post players and mobile enough to step out and hedge screens on the perimeter when called upon. He's not afraid to use his body and is willing to dive on the floor for loose balls. He was also one of the better rebounders and shot blockers at this tournament.

Clearly Bezbradica's a player we'll be seeing more of at the international level over the next few years.

According to this: http://www.euroleague.net/competition/pl...ncode=JT09

He averaged 11 ppg, 5.3 rpg in 2009-10 Euroleague games. Was only 16 or 17 years old. His birthday on the link is incorrect.

World Championships U17

Preliminary Round Round 5: USA - SERBIA 112-75

Date: July 7, 2010
Although USA U17 reached the 5th straight win, the beginning of the game did not belong to them. Serbia U17 tried hard, but could not escape the big loss. A 10-2 run was the start for the European team in the game that shocked a bit the favorites. Moreover Nemanja Bezbradica made two points inside the paint for 14:5 lead. USA recovered quickly and Anthony Wroten closed the frame at 21:24. Chasson Randle hit the 3 point shot in the beginning of the second period to tie the game and then USA never looked behind. A 31-9 in the second frame was too much for Serbia. USA looked as if they had to and reached 52:33 at the halftime. In the third quarter the favorites kept plus 20-25 and had 78:55 in the end of thirty minutes. Thomas opened the last quarter from the perimeter and Cook brought 85:61 from the same distance. Parker made two points inside the paint to celebrate third digit with his team as USA enjoyed 101:72 at that time. USA easily held off the opponents in the end and reached another victory. Randle made two points inside the paint for the final 112:75. Bradley Beal paced all the winners with 20 points for 5-0 record. James McAdoo collected 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Michael Gilchrist added 14. Nemanja Bezbradica replied with 21 points and 8 rebounds, whilst Nikola Jankovic had 13.

================================================

Under 17 league. He held up well against the USA. Definitely worth a look. Playing that strong at that young of an age says something.

RE: Nemanja Bezbradica
The more I read about our recruiting class for next year, the more wrong I realize I was about them. Solid class.

My big concern is the lack of big men. Wilks, Biggie McClain, and Ibrahima Thomas all graduate. Yancy will be a senior with only Justin Jackson having experience down low. Gaines redshirted and will be a rookie, if he plays at all. UC desperately needs someone to come in and eat some minutes down low or contribute even more than that.

I really hope Mick has somebody up his sleeve. The recruiting news has been quiet, that's for sure.

As we all know, Mick plays recruiting extremely close to the vest. We'd probably need Julian Assange and wikileaks to find out any real info. I'm sure he's got his sights set on several big men out there. Doubt we'll know anything until it actually happens.
