If they can't improve their ranking after gaining access to the resources of the CIC, then somebody at Nebraska needs to be fired. There's nothing nefarious about it though. Their academics are actually going to improve.
I agree. Cincinnati's academics increased significantly just being in the Big East, and Louisville's and USF's, to a little bit lesser extent, improved.

USF's academics ranking have grown dramatically since joining the Big East
2003 avg SAT scores 1084, in 2009- 1151
Freshmen needing remedial classes
2003- 546 in 2008- 34
Percent admitted
2003- 70%, 2009- 48%
Those are just some of the numbers from the incoming classes and doesnt show USF's research dollars which has also increased dramatically.

No they don't.
At least they don't throw a diploma in your car as you drive through town, like they do in Athens, GA...

Clemson is a great school... anybody who doesn't think that is ill-informed.

I'm actually mildly surprised Cincinnati's academics aren't higher ranked. On paper at least they have the resume to be (not just a good) but an elite university. For instance, their endowment is one of the largest in the entire conference (including basketball schools). I'm curious what's negatively affecting their ranking, and what could be done to ameliorate those factors. Maybe someone with a better knowledge of the specific metrics involved could shed some light. USF I get, but Cinci is an almost 200 year old university with significant financial resources. Is Nancy Zimpher to blame? Gosh knows she hasn't exactly done wonders for the SUNY system since leaving Cincinnati.
UC is a great school that has been penalized by the fact that it has a lot of commuter students. It is that simple... if you look at the school's individual programs, it has a ton going for it.

Same as USF eventhough that is changing.
