Arguing With MT Fans...
You know why I hate arguing with MT fans? They don't argue to win, they argue to make things look even. Troy went toe to toe with a nationally ranked 12-2 CMU Team with Dan LeFevour at the helm. The TV Ratings for the GMAC Bowl went up 41% and ended with a 2.4 rating, nearly four times that of the New Orleans Bowl, which ended second to last out of all the bowl games, with a TV rating of 0.7 and a 0% increase in rating. Middle Tennessee played a 7-6 Southern Miss team no one cared to see.

They don't argue to win, they argue to make things look even - like their schedules - which most certainly have not been. They brag about winning out of conference games like it's a team issue, when it's really a scheduling issue - who's been playing the weaker teams. Now, with that I have to say that this year, and this year only, have they been relatively close - 117th (Troy) and MT (120th, dead last).

They don't argue to win, they argue to make things look even - like their team in general. MT was not as good as Troy. They had similar margains of victory, but they needed way more turnovers to get those margains, played a weaker ooc schedule, and lost at Troy 31-7. I watched that game, they got soundly beat by Troy's front seven. Middle Tennessee couldn't do anything all night. When they couldn't produce takeaways they found themselves in a hole. It wasn't because Dasher didn't show up, his team just wasn't as good.

They don't argue to win, they argue to make things look even. It's not even close, and it shows every time we play them on national TV.

Meh....

Win your damn bowl games. Till then Both FAU and MTSU have performed better on a "NATIONAL" stage then Troy has.

Remember close only counts in Horseshoes and Handgreandes.

We've won more games on national tv over the last 4 years then both of your teams combined. TRUTH.

04-cheers

Beat MT 3 Times (none of them were even close)
Beat Florida Atlantic (beat you guys with our 3rd string QB)
Beat Oklahoma State (lead 41-10)
Beat Rice in the New Orleans Bowl (won 41-17)

Two of the three teams we've beaten were the two of you, so I'd hardly say your national stage credit is as good as ours. I like how you try to make it even though. More people have seen us kickass on ESPN than you guys. Troy's win over Oklahoma State shocked the world, much more than either of the two of your bowl games. So, in the meantime, I'd suggest "performing better on a national stage." Now, if you meant to include teams not in the sunbelt, beating memphis and southern miss don't do much for you. Beating Central Michigan, possibly. But their players had the bird flu, and that's the excuse ESPN and the rest of the country remembers about that game.

Again, Cheers. 04-cheers

Troy has performed very well on the national stage...

Beat Missouri on ESPN2 in 2004
Beat North Texas on ESPN2 in 2005
Beat FAU on ESPN2 in 2008
Beat Rice on ESPN2 in 2006
Beat MT on ESPN2 in 2007 and 2009
Beat Oklahoma State on ESPN2 in 2007

the teams Troy have played in bowl game have been pretty tough. in 2004 Troy had to play one of NIU's best teams in recent years. 2008 we had to go against a USM team that was one of the hottest teams going into the bowl season. then 2009 we had to play the best team CMU has ever fielded, that finished #23 in the rankings... Troy was able to drill a pretty hot Rice team in 2006 at least.

I'm not trying to be 05-sosad about this, but I would like to see how FAU or MT would have fared in the games Troy played in. very likely would've been the same result....
