RE: Without us, looks like ya'll done ....
CatsClaw,
I'm not going to say eone thing about the BE going to crap without ECU, Memphis, UCF, Temple or any other team. Just remember we are at the same place you (Cincy) was at before the invite. We just want to be included at the big boys table. We want the same opportunities as you have received under the BCS umbrella. Nothing more, nothing less. So bash us all you want for wanting the very same that you wanted back then. Cincy, was fortunate to get the invite and has done very well with the opportunity to date.
We as fans of the, BE's view of non-worthyness, schools just want the same opportunity. It's easy to look down on the teams left behind when you get to the big table and it's easy to forget about how it was when you were in the same position. I wish nothing but the best for Cincy, L'ville and USF as previous members of CUSA and as an indicator of what we, the lesser schools in your view, could achieve with the same BCS status as you have.
Do I think the BE will faill with it's current FB playing schools, NO, will it fail because none of the others were added after the expansion ended this season, NO, will it fail within the next 5 years, No, if no other schools leave. However, what I do believe, is that if the BE had been somewhat proactive and added at least one or two schools, those schools would have had time to recruit under the umbrella and that would have been a positive for everyone. When the new TV deals are worked out having those schools already working towards inclusion would/could have also helped with the negotiations as the direction of the conference (adding teams)would have been known at that time. Which school should have been added? Don't know. That's up to the powers that be to decide and determine which has the most to offer in it's current state and future growth on and off the field.
I do believe that at some point in the future if the Big 12 does go back to 12 members and a championship game, the BE will be forced to add more members and get on the same level with the other BCS conferences. It would seem to be better for the conferece as a whole to have added a couple teams now and couple later to get to 12 when needed.
Again, I think the BE will be fine as long as no one leaves and I hope they don't. The BE needs the current schools to remain.
