Last time I checked we still had a winning record (5-4) against MTSU; and it has been a while since North Texas won 4 consecutive Sun Belt Conference titles, but we did win them. MTSU can't say that. 05-mafia

All fine and good, but I'd much rather be where we are now, then where you were then.

Basically the same position for you now as it was then. Looking up at the leader of the conference.

I'll take a bowl win againt Southern Miss anyday. I wouldn't say we are "looking up" to Troy. We didn't win the conference, but we have done well. Enjoy your run for now, but I'm not worried about what Troy is doing.

And getting more cred and respect than North Texas was when they were mowing through the conference slate and getting hammered in the OOC. In UNT four year run they went 4-19 in OOC. The four wins were against a 6-6 Troy team a 3-9 Baylor team a 7-7 Cincinnati team and a 7-4 Nichols State team.

UNT was a champion of circumstance, any of their four championship teams would be a just above middle of the road team in the Sun Belt any of the past few years.

Your usual crock of crap trying to diminision UNT's 4 year run. UNT did have a top 10 defense while playing Texas, Arizona, Alabama and TCU for OC in 2002. Only Alabama (33 points) was able to scored over 27 points vs that defense. Accept it for what it was. A 4 year run with 4 championships (3 outright).

During the early years, the media kinda dubbed the muts as the Sun Belts "sexy team". The muts problem was they usually played like they had the clap.01-france

Don't sweat the Blue Raiders. They have the egos of muti-time champs, but none of the hardware to go along with it. If they ever win an outright championship I would be willing to bet they will be even less popular than Troy fans are right now.

I've never understood putting down a team that is atop your conference at any given time. If they won the conference and you are putting them down what does that say for your program? Just MT fans claiming to be better than Troy last year. It just isn't true. It was decided on the field yet they continue to argue the point. Seems to me there are so insecurities within the Blue Raider Village.

RE: 2010 Football Posters?
If Troy had played and won the exact same games/teams that MT had last year, and vice versa, yet MT had won the conference, I would say the same about Troy. The fact is, we won some games that Troy probably would not have won, or at least one game. I'm not saying it's a fact, because it's my opinion and it's subjective, but I will always beleive that we were the better team overall last year. Could we beat Troy last year if we went back in time and played the game 10 more times? Probably not, but overall, I think we had a better year. Not taking away from Troy, because you guys had a good year as well, just not as good as we did.

"What does that say about your program?" It says we were bad. The fact of the matter is for years everyone in the Sun Belt was bad, UNT was just less bad. The Sun Belt was a terrible league the first few years, which is where the stigma we're battling now comes from. We're all culpable for the stigma, I talk crap about UNT fully realizing that it means we were crap then too, the difference is, we've progressed and UNT has regressed.

I repeat, North Texas was a champion of circumstance. In their four year run as champions in OOC they went 0-5, 2-5, 2-4, 0-5.

When have I ever not accepted the fact that you guys won four straight championships? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have four straight championships, but they aren't doing anything for you now. Again, I'd rather be where we are now, one of the top programs in an improving league, than where you were then as the top dog in a league of nobodies. You're kidding yourself if you say you believe otherwise.

And in the past three years, our conference champs (NO Bowl reps) have gone 1-4 (only win against a sub-.500 CUSA team), 2-4 (both wins against 1-AAs), 2-4 (OOC wins against opponents with a combined record of 8-17). Go back a 4th year, when Middle tied for a co-championship in 2006, and you guys went 1-5 in OOC, with your only win coming against a 1-AA.

Compare our champion's OOC record from the past 4 years combined, and you get exactly ONE more D-1A win than North Texas had during our four years back at the start of the decade.

My goodness, it's like we've launched into the stratosphere.

Yeah and champions or not, Middle Tennessee had as many FBS OOC victories in the 2009 season alone, as UNT did in their four year run.

Perhaps if Troy had played a few 10 loss FBS teams in 2004, the conference runner-up would have won three instead of two.

Look at all of these straw man arguments sprouting from a OBVIOUS (and, admittedly, not all that funny) joke about alcohol and UNT's recent penchant for losing. . .

Take a deep breath.

Good for you. Now tell us about your streak of conference titles and the trips to the NO bowl that you earned. Your kinda act like a baby jumping up and down in a high chair yelling me, me, me. 01-wingedeagle

And you're kind of like a guy in his thirties talking about how good he was in his prime, how he should have made the big time and wondering where it all went wrong. It didn't all go wrong, you just were never actually that good, your competition was just that bad.

Rave on with your childish prattle.:youmoron:

Have a beer on me in the adult rec softball league, forgotten champion.04-cheers Just be careful rounding third(if you get there) your knees aren't what they used to be.

I would rather be a forgotten champ than to never have been one at all. But, please don't let me get in the way of MT 2nd place parade of the message boards. You guys are going to set a record for look at me post in an off season.

Well I guess that's the difference between you and me. In 2010 Blue Raider fans are pretty happy with where they are, Mean Green fans are not. 2001-2004 isn't doing a whole lot for UNT these days, we live in a what have you done for me lately society, especially when it comes to sports.

You are so jealous of what other have accomplished where the Muts have failed. First UNT, then Troy. As usual you're just a back seat driver hoping for attention.03-hissyfit
