I like 9 for the reasons above.

Biggest disadvantage with 9 is that you always have to have one team off/ nonconference game during conference play.

I'd rate them:
9, 10, 12, 16, 14, 8, 11.

I think 10 is the number as well.

I like 10 as well. It allows for round robin basketball and football. the downfall would be if you chose nine conference games, you have the situation the BE has now of uneven amounts of home/away games in conference. However, the optimal number for scheduling and revenue are two different things. 12 is probably the optimal set up for revenue maximization, as it allows for more games in a TV inventory, a rotation of teams on the schedule, and a championship game for those who can sell it, without having so many teams you go years without playing each other.

Strangely enough, I know many would disagree, but I think the Big East has a near optimal set up as far a football and nonfootball teams coexisting. If you had 10 or 12 football teams, but 16 total teams, which gives you 16 basketball teams, and roughly ten to twelve in each non-revenue sport (since not all schools sponsor all other sports), you have a perfect football set up, but more teams for other sports and allowing for the ability to make more money for basketball (see BE bb TV contract).

Without naming teams to add or subtract, the hybrid set up (just the set up, not the make up) that the Big East has actually allows your conference with access to more markets without havinmg to divide the pie as much. Especially if you have a conference network to maximize revenue. And a tough down the line conference is the best way to maximize basketball regular season revenue, as the intra conference competition can outway the negatives the NCAA tournament has on the regular season, by making the conference championship a draw in itself.

The problem for our conference is the lack of marquee teams, and thus the ultimate makeup of the conference. however, the set up, at least in theory, could be a perfect.

college rules like laws are lazy and obsolete, they need to change w/ the times and the big 12 is leadin the way baby.

a rule change to a 10 team conf championship game is a must thing, it makes sense less revenue sharing and more of a college feel, when these so called elite college regents stop rippin off these 18 yr old kids and start giving these athletes spending money cause they can't play sports, study and work at the same time, the greed of these college presidents or regents or whatever theyr'e called is sickening and appollling.....................

i paid under 10k for a 4 yr college degree in 87................

i had money in my pocket to help out the economy of my country...............the ones who are benefiting r the banks bigggggggggg time and the people who run them on a daily bases r still being paid 70's type low wages, the poor tellers.............

Why do you always post like you're drunk?

i noticed that you have a tendency to throw digs at people who r not in favor of temple being readmitted to the beast.

i'll be frank it comes fr the top, temple has never added value to the beast and is right where it belongs.04-cheers04-cheers

9 or 12. Either way you get 8 conference games. Even number conference games helps a lot, then you need 3-4 OOC. 10 conference games is hard to do with an 11 team conference.

9 although I could also live with 8, 10 or 12.

That has nothing to do with you posting in an apparent drunken state, neglecting to capitalize words, and not fully spelling words like 'from' and 'are'.
