Kennesaw State head men’s basketball coach Tony Ingle announced the addition of Dave Houle to his staff on Monday.

Houle, who spent 29 years at Mountain View High School in Orem, won a record 68 state championships at the school in five sports and is a 2000 inductee of the National High School Hall of Fame.

“Dave brings to this program years of coaching experience and has always been around a culture of winning,” said Ingle, a former BYU basketball assistant who served as interim head coach for one season. “A lot of his work over the years has been in skill development, and all of his experience and success makes him a great addition to our staff. We’re very excited to have him.”

Houle has coached men’s basketball at both the collegiate and high school levels, including stints as an assistant coach at Southern Utah University and Utah Valley University, both NCAA Division I programs.

As an assistant at the high school level, he helped guide teams to a state championship and three runner-up performances.

Sounds like a very experienced hire. This is probably exactly what we needed. Also sounds like someone that Ingle has a lot of history with over the years, which is always a good thing. If this guys strength is skill development, then he has a pretty full cupboard to develop with Markeith, Ladaris, Spencer, etc....Time to take our program to the next level and compete for the top 3-4 in the league.

Hopefully he's also a very good recruiter. The importance of this skill is often overlooked. If we don't recruit at a very high level.. we will not be a consistent contender in this league.

Good point, but that means we are in trouble already because this guy knows nothing about recruiting locally being from out of state.

I'm just sayin ....

Not knowing the area and being unable to recruit locally are very different. Hopefully he's an intelligent coach with good charisma and can sell our product.
