Big East officials meet about expansion today. Conditional invites a possibility?
Orlando Sentinel decided to clear up the rumors running around Orlando and Memphis. The article is mainly about how the rumor of UCF holding an invite is premature; it goes on about how it started and how it progressed yesterday. The only real interesting tidbit is this...

Quote:. However, I have been told Big East officials haven’t committed to preemptive expansion yet to secure the conference’s future if it ends up getting raided by other leagues. The issue will be discussed today during a teleconference by league officials.

Article goes on the speculate that conditional invites might be considered and given today.

My thoughts are you need to change that sig if you want anyone to be able put two thoughts together. However, I'm sure my thoughts aren't really what you were looking for.

I wouldn't get too far ahead of yourself. Lots of conflicting information as usual...

What is a "conditional invite"?

We're not inviting you but we might depending . . . ? What's that worth?

The conditional invite is a speculation... who knows

Could restrict UCF/Memphis from talking to other conferences. Our AD Keith Tribble met with ACC officials last weekend (while the whole Texas-Pac10 was still being discussed)

I've never heard the term "conditional" invitation from any Big East media or sources or anything official. The only place I've ever heard this is from the local media of schools wanting in the league. I don't believe the Big East is in the business of issuing "conditional" invitations--why would they, it's not like these schools are going to dissapear if the Big East doesn't give them this imaginary invitation.

There just isn't any truth to these rumors.
