UCF and Memphis looks like a done deal. Maybe???
Well, the rumors are flying. Now it's UCF and Memphis. 10 teams sucks unless NCAA allows championship games to BE and B12. Southern Miss and ECU are the other two obvious choices. Or Army and Navy. I say go to 16 and add Houston and Louisiana Tech.

Big East North
Army
Cincinnati
Connecticut
Navy
Pittsburgh
Rutgers
Syracuse
West Virginia

Big East South
Central Florida
East Carolina
Houston
Louisville
Memphis
Louisiana Tech
Southern Mississippi
South Florida

Nine game conference schedule.

I think this would be an equal conference to the ACC. Army and Navy in FB are equal to Duke and WF. The others are a wash too.... Plus being in a BCS league would help the CUSA schools in their recruiting. The big loser when all is said and done will be the Big 10. Thank you Notre Dame and Texas. You killed their dream....

PS. Keep the BB intact. Four six team divisions. 22 conference games.

North
Connecticut
Providence
Rutgers
Seton Hall
St.John's
Syracuse

Central
Army
Georgetown
Navy
Pittsburgh
Villanova
West Virginia

South
Central Florida
East Carolina
Houston
Louisiana Tech
Southern Mississippi
South Florida

West
Cincinnati
DePaul
Louisville
Marquette
Memphis
Notre Dame

Use this model for the non-revenue sports and you really cut down on travel costs.

10 teams is perfect if you want a big conference but you don't want a championship game.

Adding USF to the BE instead of Memphis proved that a unknown brand can make a big dent in a big market. ECU brings in the Carolinas. S. Miss, La. Tech and Houston the Gulf Coast. And UCF, the 3rd largest school in the country gives us Disney World. The SEC and Big 10 will be forced to stand pat. If the Big 10 were to get ND who could they find as a 14th team. Missouri State????

I agree, kind of. So many teams have been knocked out of the title game still if you are worthy you will win those games.

The champ game is all about $$$. If the BE by going to 12 could make 5 to 7 mil on the game, and be able to pick up 1 or 2 more bowls to cover the 2 extra schools, and make enough more on TV to cover most of the extra split in revenues it makes sense. Short term if it will be a major $$$ loser it doesnt.

Personally I still don't buy the BE adding anyone, I will like the Memphis/UCF thing if it happens and would also like a 12 team with Temple and ECU on board. but don't see it happening right away. The BE prez are a cautious lot, I just can not see them being proactive on anything.

As for who would the B10 get to go with ND?? Answer is anyone they want out of the BE. None of these additions change that, all they do is give BE more room to move.

I just don't think the championship game is a good idea anyway. It's just one more way for a highly ranked team to get bumped, most of the Big East fan bases don't travel well enough to fill up a stadium, and we are so spread out that diestance is a problem even if they did travel. And where would we have it? Indy? Columbus? New York would not be a neutral site IMO if UConn, Rutgers or Syracuse were in the game.

Correct, I dont believe the Big East has grown in support enough to hold a championship game. I much rather go to 10 play everyone and start the BEN.

Cuban I tend to agree. I really wish you would quit being thoughtful though. I don't think it's good for a BCS conf to hold champ game at one of the schools like cusa does, But I think that is the only way you make it work crowd wise.

I would like the Big East to go to 10. That seems perfect with the atmosphere of the current BCS.

I am not opposed to a 12 team conference final. The game is always exciting in CUSA, I can only imagine what it would be like with Big East teams. A neutral site is more realistic with the Big East then it is for CUSA. Say Yankee Stadium, New Meadowlands Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field (Philly Eagles) etc etc... not that the Big East will go to 12 anyways, I am just throwing the idea out there.

I'm skeptical that anyone but the SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 can pull off a neutral site game. I have a feeling that the Pac-10 game won't be much better attended than the ACC game. There's nothing wrong with having an on-campus CCG, but I don't think the Big East is considering 12 teams at all at this point.

10 teams is a nice size - i just don't think UCF or Memphis brings more value to the table than they take (Memphis might, with that FedEx offer).

Media down here says Mt. West for Houston.

Other insiders say the BE is our only chance for a BCS bowl (since Texass will never be in a conference with us again).

Would the Big East invite Houston? In my opinion not being a homer, I would most definitely say no and it's sort of a stretch to consider. Although I hope I'm wrong from some of the things I have been reading about the chances OF being offered.

I'd say Temple, Navy and Army are the other "obvious" choices if there are any in the non BCS eastern teams. These are the teams that were recommended for some type of inclusion last time. Things have improved for Temple and Navy and Army is in the footprint as well. Doubt if there are any "obvious" choices since the league hasn't added any of these though.

10 with a title game means a title game rematch. Last year that would have been Cincinnati and West Virginia. The first meeting was 3 points. If not for a video replay Cincinnati was title game bound last year if they beat WVU again in a Big East title game.

I can't wait to call the WVU ticket office if they raise the price for season tickets if this takes place.

Championship game might work, but there many variables, who is playing and where is the game. Cincy vs. WVU in Indy, yeah that would work.
If it is Rutgers - Pitt in Indy that is asking some fans to really travel, especially for Rutgers.
