SEC reportedly pays out $17million. Projections from the Big XII future contract is that the upper schools will get in the $20million range.

That is not exactly right. If you read the reports, Texas will be looking to earn between $20 and $25 mil. The other schools are only looking to gain in the range of $7 mil, possibly.

Only a newspaper blog, but it is funny.

Quote:Don’t think Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia aren’t taking notes.

Don’t think for a minute that the big boys of the SEC haven’t noticed the money grab that the big boys of the Big 12 just pulled off.

Forget about expanding, SEC.

Contraction is the ticket to more money.

Get rid of Mississippi State and Ole Miss and split all of your money 10 ways instead of 12 ways.

That’s what I got out of listening to Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe’s teleconference Tuesday when he announced the specifics of how his league was saved from extinction.

Complete Story

We've seen a ton of things happen in conference realignment, but we have never once seen is a school leave a conference that was both more stable and made more money. We have seen programs rejecting joining such conferences on occasion (for various reasons), but never seen one leave one.

The Big 12's new TV deal may offer Arkansas more money than the SEC + many of their major donors and alumni want the Hogs to rejoin the likes of Texas and A&M.

I can't imagine any way Arkansas leaves the SEC. There's just no way for the money to add up. Unless Jerry Jones just wants to write them a personal check for around $5 million every year for eternity, there is no way for the Longhorn Conference to make the deal financially feasible.

Why do you say this. It seems quite possible a league with Texas, Oklahoma, OK State, A&M, Arkansas and all the others could make more than $17 million per year-especially since they may be trying to lure another big school such as ND as well

If they were smart and that is the key word here SMART they would pursue Arkansas with all it's past ties and history, and with the other pick they should go after Memphis with all that money the Fedex has apparently promised in sponsorship towards a BCS conference that would let Memphis be affiliated with. Now We all know that Arkansas is bringing in some serious cash via the SEC in the sum of $17-million dollars now for them to even jump ship they would have to match if not sweeten the deal they are already getting. Now the Memphis pick is with in the footprint of the Big 12, and they would help out the basketball side of the conference for it will take some time for their football operation to catch up to others in the Big 12 as well as other BCS conferences, but that price tag of sponsorship via Fedex if true is just to sweet to past up.

1. Jerry Jones is pushing this real hard. He has Frank Broyles ear and always has. Broyles is not the AD anymore but he is the head of the Razorback Foundation. Which is the Money.
2. The New SWC. A lot of old money wants this conference to be brought back to life. Now that Nebraska is out of the way and Oklahoma is in the fold. Their is no one from the original Big 8 to block it.
3.Jerry Jones stands to lose a lot of money if their isn't a championship game in his stadium.
4.New Mexico and TCU. Despite what T.Boone Pickens said about TCU recently they would be in play.
5.Iowa state. Nobody wants them in this conference anymore. Look for New Mexico to replace them. Why New Mexico? Better TV market, and will bring an additional bowl game to the New SWC.
6.Rumors are a Flying.05-stirthepot

You can't replace Iowa St., there is no legal reason to kick them out and they won't be.
Forming a New Conference. Iowa states just not going to get an invite.

Changing the name of the B12 to the SWC is not forming a new conf. and taking 9 of the 10 and "moving" to the SWC is not forming a new conference. Try again

Ok, How about this. Ask any Temple fan if you can be voted out of a conference.

F*ck for the 1000th time Temple was NEVER a FULL MEMBER of the BE only a non voting football AFFILIATE. Big difference.
