Sigh.

The only conference that was close to being decimated was the Big XII.

Now that the expansion carousel has stopped spinning, its time to get back to the regularly scheduled Big East Bashfest.

I almost would rather read the "my d!ck is bigger" threads composed of Memphis, ECU, UCF and others.

Almost.

RE: Maisel: BE respite may be brief
I've been thinking that the Big Ten is throwing in the towel on it because ND has convinced them they'll go to the ACC if the Big East implodes. I imagine ND could keep its NBC contract in the ACC much the same way UT got its special deal from the Big Whatever. The Big Ten probably can't allow that, and Rutgers, Pitt, Syracuse aren't a big enough haul on their own for the Big Ten to invite them.

I'm really thinking this is done, and we are in the clear.

I see no way that the Tar Holes would ever allow any team that kind of exception to join with them. They run that league and it would never happen. Only league ND could ever join and keep the network would be the Big East.

I think we've dodged total destruction and probably are even in the clear but until Jim Delany says they're done officially we're not quite out of the woods.

Delany CANT ever say that. He started this whole superconference talk and had everyone salivating with the Big Ten adding Texas, Notre dame or both. Saying that is over would be admitting failure. Adding Nebraska helped the Big Ten and him to safe face. They will now say that the first stage of Big Ten expansion is done and the second stage (no timeline given) will be on the table. All thetalking heads will go back to the usual Big East raidng of Cuse, and Rutgers but the Big Ten targets will continue to be Texas and Notre Dame.
If the Big 12 new deal does not succeed money wise for UT, the Big Ten will be back talking with them and the Irish. Count on it.
