Texans continue due diligence in free agent market
June 14, 7:40 PMHouston Texans ExaminerAlan Burge

As OTAs and minicamp draw to a close, the Texans are continuing to probe the free agent market, bringing in seven players today for a tryout, according to Nick Scurfield of houstontexans.com. ...
According to Scurfield, three of the players are undrafted rookie free agents [cornerback Kasey Brown from Northwestern State, long snapper Preston Powers of Ole Miss and wide receiver Derrick Townsel of Murray State] and four are veteran street free agents: [fullback Justin Griffith, defensive end William VanDeSteeg, cornerback Frank Walker, and wide receiver Bobby Williams]....
Bringing in a couple of wide receivers is not a surprise. The Texans have nine wide receivers on the roster but one is an undrafted free agent (London Crawford), one is a 7th round rookie project (Dorin Dickerson) and another is 5-5, 163 and still learning how to run routes. The Texans took 9 WRs to camp last year.
