I'm beginning to feel more optimistic about our
season when I think of the potential of our inside game. Bails has shown that he can play at this level, and if the light has truly gone on, and he improves from where he ended up last season, he could be a force. Plus he is a good free throw shooter, which has been a terrible weakness with our big men for years now.
Marlo will either have a year to improve to take over next season, or if he turns out to win the starting job, we will really be good inside. Plus Montrelle has a lot of athletic ability, and should have improved, so the big man spot could be our strongest position for once. We know that Solo and Matt are solid players, and Alex and Courtney should be better than last season.
Throw in some help from our newcomers, and this could be a really good team. I know I've always been more optimistic than most on this board, and I'm not predicting how many games we'll win, or that we'll go to the tournament, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not a train.

Dr. J. You are ALWAYS Mr. Optimism. I was not very optimistic last season, but we were even worse then I predicted (probably because of the loss of Big Mike). I do feel quite optimistic about this coming season. The key to me is the new point guard. We will likely have a senior at the 2 guard (Solo), a senior at the 3 guard (Alex), a 3rd year junior with a lot of experience at the 4 (Courtney) and a 5th year senior (Derrick) at the 5. Matt might be the best 6th man in the league and will also be a senior. Kibi and Marlo will push Courtney at the 4, and one of them might even win that spot. Thornton should be able to push Derrick and will be a solid back up, at the worst. I'm not sure how many all conference players we have, but we appear solid at every position and I really don't see any big weaknesses. I could see Solo being on one of the all confence teams- My hope is that Derrick can make, at least, 3rd team all conference at the season's end. If that happens we will have a very good season.

Until this team proves it can play defense, that is a weakness.
