I agree. But he held MLB over a barrel about the Nationals deal. he felt DC, Virginia, and NC were his markets. I can only imagine a college conference based in Chicago coming in and getting $1.00 per subscriber, when he can't get half that for his network broadcasting two teams games 170 games a year each, including 33 or so that include the Yankees and Redsox, and 33 or so that include the Mets and Braves.

Edit: I was wrong. MASN did actually get $1.25 per subscriber, butt hey wanted $2-$3 per subscriber, and are still fighting for more.

RE: Dodds and Ends-Orange Key to ND
This seems to jibe with something I heard earlier in this drama - that if they join, Notre Dame would have input as to who the 16th school would be. So the Big 10 gets Nebraska, Mizzou, Rutgers, and then Notre Dame as the 15th, and then they basically select the 16th.

I still think they take Rutgers because of the NY, NJ cable subscriber issue. Notre Dame, it has been said, is concerned about being "regionalized" as a midwest school. Consequently, they want to have a presence in the northeast.

Question: does Notre Dame have warm relations with BC? how about UConn?

I think the ND administration has good relations with BC but not the Irish fans.

I thought the ND athletic department had a great relationship with the UConn athletic department, which is why I was surprised at Randy Edsall saying that he championed an "ND-all-in-or-out" campaign.

Cheers,
Neil

ND was not there.
Duh, I am agreeing with you. Dodd said Swarbrick was at the meeting. I said Dodd was wrong.

Notre Dame's attempt to get a home & home series with UConn but insisting that UConn's home games be played in either the Meadowlands of Foxboro really put a sour taste in everyone' mouth at UConn.
