RE: Conference Realignment
I think the SEC will add...

Florida St.
Va. Tech
UNC
Duke

That rips the heart and soul away from the ACC. It adds quality football and basketball and some good Olympic sports. It delivers the new states of VA and NC and sows up the majority of support in the state of FL. I think the odd man out is WVU. They could slide in there in place of any of the teams I listed.

I think the $$$ that the SEC schools get from their TV contract $17+million is substantially higher than the ACC around $12+ million in their new contract. It will be interesting to see whether the schools will turn it down especially knowing that their other conference teams may jump at that $$ difference and they could end up in a smaller ACC.

As far as SEC expansion, I would not count on Miami nor Georgia Tech. Neither makes sense. Miami plays a hour north of their campus and really adds nothing to the SEC. Do not give me the TV market argument as the SEC already draws the HIGHEST viewership out of any conference and already has very high ratings in South Florida. The same goes with Georgia Tech, UGA games actually have higher ratings within metro Atlanta over GT. FSU makes a little sense; however, South Carolina, Tenn, and UGA will do all possible to not include Clemson. Also, why would the SEC expand? We do not need to expand, we already have a conference championship game and a huge TV contract. The only places where I can see us expanding is in areas / states where there is not a SEC school located.

Agreed. If the SEC expands, it needs to look at A&M, Oklahoma, WVU, VT, and maybe see if UVA or UNC would be interested. Outside of that expansion isn't worth it.

Duke has no football program to speak of, but they are improving.
UNC does not come close to the SEC way of thinking. They are not called the wine/whine & Cheese crowd for nothing.

Yea but once the SEC begins to add more teams that $17 million per team becomes more like 15 million or less depending on the number of teams the SEC adds. Doubt if they can add anybody that will bring a real $17 million in value (unles sthey take Texas or ND or maybe USC- and they don't need those teams). I don't see the SEC expanding and I dont see the B10 going beyond 12 and that means they take ND only. ND will take that deal and that is a GOOD thing for the fans on this board who want a split. With ND gone the BE BB and FB will look for a replacement. The BB school will want another BB school (ND was a BE BB school) and the FB schools will want a FB member to round out the schedule. This is where the in-fighting begins. This is where serious talk of a split begins.

The B10 is a bunch of clowns and the BTN is fools getting lucky, really, really, lucky. They better not push their luck by going to 16. The ACC and SEC deals makes the BTN look a little less impressive.

Time to SPlit. The BE fB schools need a fresh start and a new name. We need a new conference in college FB.

UNC and DUke will never split so don't think of taking one without the other. They make too much money and have too great a system of winning- I hate them both but damn they are good together in BB. As evidenced by the past two NCAA titles. They both voted against the last ACC expansion because it would cost them their round-robin- they only care about/hate each other.

Apparently the SEC can re-negotiate the TV contract if they add new teams. It is not clear whether any new team(s) would add to their revenues but on the other hand if the PAC 16 and Big Ten (expands to 16 teams) and have their own networks and exceed the SEC's revenues by a fair margin then that will allow each of them to start picking off SEC teams. The Big Ten can get an extra 40 million people in their conference boundries if they invite Syracuse, Rutgers, Missouri, UConn and Nebraska. Not everyone has cable but at a $0.70 per month charge for cable subscribers even if only 30 million people have cable that amounts to an extra $21 million per month in revenue for the Big Ten cable network. The Big Ten will feel emboldened now that they have found a way to make even more money by getting on cable so I do not think they will stop at 12. Greed has a way of doing that.

Yes, Duke football has really really sucked for mostly ever. Now, they are showing signs of life.

You are right UNC is very different from the SEC. However, the SEC offers a lot of money and name value (much more than the ACC).

If you keep Duke and UNC togehter along with two other ACC teams it makes a move a little easier. Anyway, I'm jjust guessing.

I still think that Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri are ripe for the picking.

He...is....alive.

The Big 12-ish has signed contract from all 10 teams to stay in the league over a undisclosed time period with an astronomical exit fee around roughly 20 million dollars. None of those teams are going anywhere.
