RE: Today is the day....
I suffer with them as well and have taken Imitrex, but not the injections. Mine usually hit me before it rains and I'm a pretty good indicator of bad weather. The worse the headache I get the day or two before, the worse the storm will be.

I don't, at times I really need them, but it's not the answer. I also have to go to work every morning and if I am stoned, I can't do that. I get almost 5 weeks off every year and I use at least half of that because I can't go to work with a freaking migraine. And that's in additin to my sick days. Migraines suck.

Oh, I don't mind narcotics when I have a migraine that my other meds don't control. My 1st line of pain control is acupuncture (when I can drive), then Toradol & Zofran, and if they don't work, Percocet & Phenergan are my friends. I have even been to the ER with some migraines for even stronger meds. I have extended family members that are drug addicts, and I don't want ANYONE to go through the hell they and their close family members have been through.

There are some docs out there that have no problem turning you into a drug addict by poking some pretty strong narcotics at you. There are lots of alternatives out there.

Migraines suck! 03-banghead I don't wish them on my worst enemy. Well, maybe one! She will remain nameless.

Hope you get some help today, Tanya!

RE: Today is the day....
My wife gets them, but a lot less frequently now. She has been to the neurologist twice and her FORMER doctor told her there was nothing she could do. She used imitrex for years and then one day it stopped working. She switched over to my doctor (Former Tiger Punter, Arthur Franklin) and she now has them less than ever before. But, she does use Topamax now and it seems to work when she needs it. Of course we ain't goin' anywhere for 12 hours if she takes it, lol. Good luck!!!

I used to get them more often when I was younger (6-8 times per year), but now usually only get 1-2. When I get them, however, I get them bad. Nausea, numbness on half my body, blind spots in my vision, severe pain. I've tried Imitrex, Zomig, and Relpax, but none work well. Nowadays, I just take some sort of sedative to sleep through them.

Both my wife and I use Topamax and Imatrex pills. Both been dealing with them for 15+ years. Mine started after a whiplash injury (car wreck). Wife gets them worse...2-3 times a day sometimes.

Topamax was a total disaster for me. It was very scary, turned me into a total dope. I am a software developer, so I have to stay sharp...oh boy, I called it stupimax or dopamax. Glad it's working for you though. I have a bottle of about 400 sitting here 03-lmfao

Zomig worked great for me, but my stupid insurance company only covered 3 a month. I get them at least 15 to 20 days out of a month, so that was a joke. Today I got samples for Relpax, haven't tried it yet. Hopefully they'll work.

RE: Today is the day....
I hope they can help you. My biggest fear is of getting one at work during a trial. I had one the other day for the first time in about 15 years. I usually only get the aura, which limits my vision and puts me in bed. I can't drive with them because I can't see. Quite scary, if you haven't had them before.

I've never had to have medicine but my off-the-wall thoughts concerning MY migraines are that they are definitely stress-related, and probably also hormone-related since I had one a couple days after giving birth. I was always told to drink a big cup of black coffee. But mainly I just go to bed in a dark room and sleep it off. I am sure yours are way beyond the "coffee" point.

I also have a sneaking suspicion mine are triggered at times by fluorescent light or false lighting.

Let us know how it goes.

I got one at a Rolling Stones concert once. The strobe lights and lack of air circulation in the Pyramid are my suspicion as to the causes that night. I also think that caffeine, chocolate, too many meals full of greasy, fatty foods, and stress cause mine.

My plant manager swears by his Chiropractor to alleviate his migraines.
