Final weekend of Big East baseball
UC swept Georgetown in a double header last night.

CINCINNATI – Senior Jimmy Jacquot blasted a three-run, ninth-inning home run to tie the game at four, before senior Kevin Johnson ended the game in dramatic fashion with a three-run, walk-off home run later in the ninth inning giving the University of Cincinnati baseball team a 7-4 come-from-behind win in the second game its Thursday doubleheader versus Georgetown at Marge Scott Stadium.

The win secured a berth in the BIG EAST Championships for the Bearcats, marking the third straight season that UC has advanced to the conference tournament. Cincinnati also inched its overall record above .500 at 28-27, while moving its conference record to 12-14.

Today's winners:
UConn, St John's, Cincy, WVU, and USF took 2 from Pitt.

UConn 20-5
UL 19-6
Pitt 18-8
St John's 16-10
USF 16-11
Rutgers 14-12
Cincy 13-14
Notre Dame 10-15

WVU 9-17

Seeds #3-7 are locked in for the tournament.

UConn is now a game up on the Cardinals. They finish tomorrow and UofL plays two. Louisville has to sweep with a UConn loss to take the title.

The only way the Irish don't make the tournament as the 8th seed is if they are swept tomorrow and WVU beats Nova. The 'Eers would win the tiebreaker at 10-17.

Congrats to the Cards for taking control of their own destiny. Two backbreakers against ND, make it a 3rd tonight and bring the title home again.
