RE: Football Football Football
I dont see USF finishing in 6th or lower as most are predicting. We return our entire two deep OLine, QBs and will be ok in Wrs and RBs. The defense has a lot of talent and depth back and with our new coaching taff I think you wont see USf shooting itself as it has in the past.
Im really looking forward to this season.

If USF doesn't fold in the middle of the season, like they always did under Leavitt. But first the Bulls have to prove they can get past the power teams in the conference. USF always did best against teams running a spread offense. Their big problem was always with a power attack. They never stopped one...

While I will grant you that because of the style of players USF has on defense they match up better aginst teams using the spread. I would not say that USF has never stopped one.
2008 USF 17 UConn 13
2007 USF 48 Pitt 37
2006 USF 38 UConn 16
2006 USF 22 Pitt 12
USF's bigest problems in conference have been Cincy and Rutgers and the Bearcats are not a power team. USF's problems have been in the middle of season when its lack of depth has hurt them and teams like Rutgers that had our number offensevely would just wear us out. Will that change with a new set of coaches? Well thats a question to be answered and that one of the reasons I am not saying USF should win the league, BUT there is enough talent that if used wisely will surprise many and help USF finish in top 4

RE: Football Football Football
In the Big East the difference between 4th and 6th is usually one game. USF is probably a lock to beat Cuse and Ville. They need to beat Rutgers, though. I watched that game and USF wasn't even the same team against Rutgers that they were against us or WVU. Rutgers wasn't even that good last year. I'm not sure what it is about Rutgers that USF can't seem to beat them. Yet USF gives WVU fits. USF also didn't even get off the bus against Pitt. That game plan was a major head scratcher.

The road team has never won a game in the entire history between USF and UofL. No matter how bad a team may have been that season. With the game in Louisville this year, I wouldn't call that a lock for USF.

RE: Football Football Football
Cincinnati's defense was good enough to win the BE last year and they returned just one starter on the defensive side of the ball. This year they return half their starters so the logical conclusion would be improvement. They are also switching from Diaco's god awful 3-4 back to the 4-3 which will make a HUGE difference. The Bearcats had personnel recruited to play the 4-3 not the 3-4, the most evident example of that is they lacked the kind of nose tackle (or really any at all) that could command a double team. Cincinnati won't be Alabama on defense but with their high powered offense they don't need to be. Fact is Cincinnati is going to be better on both sides of the ball this upcoming season talent wise, could be another banner year for Cincinnati if Butch Jones can prove he can coach (and so far I've loved what I've seen from him).

We do need to improve on defense, I agree. I'm not trying to disrespect UConn but it's not like you guys don't have plenty of questions on D either. You gave up over 700 yards to us last year! In conference only games, UConn finished 7th in scoring defense giving up 30 points per game and dead last in total defense giving up an average of 458 yards per game. I'd also be nervous that your D allowed 4 TD passes of over 60 yards in the spring game. Seems like there are some definite holes in that defense.
