Little Rock Baseball
Our baseball team is showing some signs of improvement, even though it's probably too little too late to make the SBC tournament. It's kind of like when Joe Foley took over the women's basketball team and had so far to go, Coach Norwood seems to have the diamond Trojans headed in the right direction. Without a small miracle, we won't make the SBC tournament, but I think we have every reason to believe maybe that will change next year.

Here's the latest word. UALR defeated Louisiana-Monroe, 7-6. However, the Trojans won't make the conference tournament because Troy swept a DH from Arkansas State yesterday. Troy decided to play 2 games yesterday due to expected heavy rains forecast for tomorrow. There is some good news, though. At 26-23 on the season, UALR needs to win 2 of their last 5 games to assure themselves a winning season for the first time in several years.

Being a baseball fan, they have made big strides this year. I wasn't around when Foley began but I heard they were way down as was when Norwood got here too. Last yar the scores were a mess, with wins in 3 series and one to go, and wins on the road at Ole Miss, I really believe we will see the Trojans in post season next year.

Way down, about as low as they could get. Foley recruited some juco's early, along with high school seniors. Now he is primarily relying on high school players, and making good progress. Norwood is recruiting both now, but he is getting some high schoolers. I think on the mid-major level in baseball, you have to continue to recruit some juco's too. Having a much bigger squad in baseball, I don't know if you can get enough high school kids each year to compete.
