What do we know about the schedule
Ole Miss- home
Tulsa- home
LaTech- home
MoState- away
Oral Roberts- away
Apparently we are in some type of early exempt preseason tournament.
Sounds like we'll get a home game, plus 2 or 3 on the road.
Will "Arkansas' NCAA Team" be added to the schedule. How about UCA and their new coach. I think fans would like to see it, but I think the odds are against it happening.

Assuming the SBC goes to a 16 game schedule there will be 2 more nc games for everyone.

If Shields is looking for some "W"s, and after last year I sure would be, then I think he would check into the possibilities here. When we didn't schedule these two teams when we had high expectations of winning enough games to get into the NIT, etc., and trying to not take a big RPI hit, I could understand not scheduling them. But if at this point with such a basically unknown commodity, if they are willing to come to LR to play, why not. I don't think there is any logical reason to rush into a home and home though until these programs bring their performance up to our level on a consistant basis (our level on average, obviously not based on last year). That's just the pecking order of things.

RE: What do we know about the schedule
We have had a lot of luck with scheduling other mid-majors the last 3 years. Hopefully, we can get a schedule without money games. I still think the K-State approach is the bast way to go. Just win against other mid's and you should be in one of thye 4 tournaments. Prove you can start getting to the last couple of rounds in the those tournaments, then you can get a harder schedule.

Well, of course, we have to accept an invitation to one of the 4 tournaments or it doesn't make much difference. With the 4 tournaments there will be 68 + 32 + 16 + 16 = 132 teams in post season next year. You finish in the Top 125 in the RPI you probably get in somewhere. I don't know if a 175 spot jump in RPI is do-able for us next season. However, it is a goal which is not out of the realm of possibility. It would be something to shoot for, if I could be sure we would accept a bid if one was forthcoming.

I still have never heard an explanation of why we turned down the CIT and CBI 2 years ago. Some on this board theorized that Chris was trying to make the point to Steve that ONLY the NCAA or NIT truly counted as postseason. I really didn't buy it then, but it certainly was proven to be false since Steve was retained after this season. Just don't think we are in a position to snub our noses at tournaments that this year included teams like St. Louis, Oregon State, George Washington, LaTech, Creighton, MTSU, Charleston, Indiana State, and Princeton. George Mason didn't snub an invite despite going to the Final 4 a few years back. Hopefully, we'll be in a position to be considered for an invitation after next season.

We are not in a position to thumb our noses at anything.

We are certainly not in position to snub our noses at most anything, but I personally feel that paying your way into a tournament is like you're paying to get into an invitational tournament, not going to post season. The only benefit I can see is, you get to play at least one more game, and if you can win a game or two, you might get a "little" publicity out of it.

I'd really like to know what the deal is. I know you have to "buy" home games. Don't know about road games. I thought I heard you have to pay either way in the CBI, but not in the CIT. Not sure if that makes sense- why would road teams have to pay? They probably have to pay for travel expenses- It's possible we didn't want to do that with us putting up money to host WNIT games.

If we need to pay our way into tournaments that include St. Louis, Oregon State, George Washington, LaTech, Creighton, MTSU, Charleston, Indiana State, and Princeton, get the checkbook out and pay the man the money.

I like playing teams in our region - from neighbouring states (pun intended).
