So far so good
Richardson said he and assistants Wayne Stehlik and Tammy Bagby come into camp with open minds.
"I don't have any preconceived ideas of any players," he said. "That gives everybody an opportunity."
Veterans making the move from Detroit with Hornbuckle include center/forward Kara Braxton and Plenette Pierson, center Olayinka Sanni, guards Natasha Lacy and Shavonte Zellous. Cheryl Ford played for the Shock in Detroit but is expected to miss much of the 2010 esason due to knee surgery.
The Shock acquired center Chante Black, forward Amber Holt and guard Shanna Crossley via trades. Former Cascia Hall and Duke standout center Iciss Tillis, former North Carolina star guard Ivory Latta and Olympic sprinter Marion Jones have signed free agent contracts.
They are joined by the team's newest draft picks, Amanda Thompson of Oklahoma and Vivian Frieson of Gonzaga. Five players who earned training camp contracts include guards Danielle Green (Oklahoma State) and Brittany Gilliam (SMU), forwards Juanita Ward (Syracuse) and Kim Sitzmann (UALR) and center Moniquee Alexander (UCLA).
The reality is that Kim is still a big longshot to make the team. 21 players on the training camp roster- 5 of those are still player in Europe and 1 is injured. Which leaves the 15 maximum that are allowed at camp. There will only be 11 on the roster when the season begins.
