to sign one more. That would make 17 players on the roster, which means four have to go. That's a huge turnover. I guess a lot of speculation on the part of the players as to who will be back and who won't. Guess this is gut check time for the coaching staff. Most feel this is a must win season, and obviously they're throwing everything into recruiting to win this year. Hope it works out. I'm at a loss trying to figure out exactly what goals must be met, since most of us thought it was made clear last year when Chris said it was imperative we reach the postseason, and we all thought it meant this past season. So I hope we have a good season, and whatever happens is up to the AD, as it has always been.04-cheers

I guess you put a whole lot more weight on Chris' statement than I did. After we chose not to got to the CBI or CIT, after our best season in 15 years, it was certainly clear to me it wasn't any type of ultimatum (which I never believed it was to begin with).

Seems to me, in our situation, there is no such thing as a "must win season". It's clear to me that winning is not that important to the UALR Admn.

We certainly don't follow Lombardi's famous quote that "winning isn't everything, it's the only thing". And to be honest, I'm glad we don't.

We made the postseason that year. We just chose not to go. And I hated that decision.

We made it. We got an invite. We declined it. I'm just saying obviously in Chris' mind that was good enough.

I get invited to a lot of events that I don't go. Doesn't mean I go around saying I made it.

My son got into Duke. He choose to go to UNC (he got a much better scholarship offer). He still got invited to attend Duke- like we got invited to postseason. Not sure you can say we "didn't make it".

But you could have had you wanted to, because you were invited. The hosts of the event deemed you worthy of attending. You met their requirements, and they decided that you had earned an invite.

You don't go not because you didn't qualify, but because despite having "qualified", you CHOSE not to go.

That's like saying I made it the The Masters but I didn't go. I might have been invited, but I didn't make it.

Even if we were invited to either or both of those tournaments, it'd be like there were two parties after graduation, the big party where all the poplular kids were invited to, then another one where those who weren't popular enough to get invited to the popular kids party went, and then the rest of the kids of the kids who aren't at all popular, decide to have their own party. Many of those kids say if I wasn't popular enough to be invited to the first two parties, I'm not going period.

Now THAT is true. We were invited to the unpopular kids' party.
