One thing I've noticed about the good teams that
we never seem to accomplish. Unselfishness and good passing to the open man. It seems like we always have a player handling the ball on the perimeter who is intent on dribbling until he finds a way to get off some sort of shot while driving to the basket, and once that drive starts, he seldom kicks it out to the perimeter for an open shot. This has gone on since before this last season. I don't believe our coaching philosophy matches that of most teams that win consistently.

I even noticed in in the women's games with UConn and Stanford both being very good at that. In our league, Middle's women always seems to promote that style effectively, as do our girls.

It seems that either our players are not taught to look for the open man, or they just don't do it. Either way, this gets back to the coaches demanding excellence from our players, no matter who they are. If a player won't do what the coaches instruct him to do, I don't care if he's the biggest star on the team, they need to sit him down until he follows instructions. If the coaches are not teaching this philosophy of passing to the perimeter when a man is open, then they are out of touch with college basketball in this century.04-cheers
