Calm down, man. I honestly hadn't considered the fire hose/Alabama connection in that way. Didn't mean any offense or connection to the civil rights/integration history of the state.

I was just trying to play off the "South Alabama fans taking their first season too seriously" fake outrage and build on the jokes.

No racial/political subtext intended.

Joe...I've already told you, this kind of stuff goes on and the wheels keep on rollin. If you don't like it don't hang around, but this messageboard isn't headed for the trash bin, I can assure you. We had fun in another thread, but seriously, this board was just fine without you. You think we're being negative? You're the newcomer saying this board is doomed. Give it a rest negative nancy. Either get with the program or don't, I won't lose any sleep over whether or not you keep posting here.

People who enjoy and involve themselves in trash talk remind me of the juveniles on the neighborhood playgrounds who insist "my daddy can whip your daddy".

Happy Easter to all!

Youch....It took me a while to connect why he got so upset. I understood your post and took it in the way it was intended - not negative at all.

Well to be fair some of those schools deserve it.

Some.

Maybe a couple...

RE: S Al Scout.com basketball headline....
this has all gotten to be pretty ridiculous. South fans, you have wonderful basketball and baseball programs. however, you JUST STARTED your football program. do you guys REALLY think you will dominate the Conference? Your wins came against teams like Hargrave Military Academy. that's a far cry from Troy and Middle, two teams who have made names for themselves by beating up on the rest of the Belt.

I understand that South is making all the right moves. I also understand that the city of Mobile is fully behind the program, which is great! still, don't allow yourself to be trapped inside the "bubble." There's a big world out there, and everyone in it is ready to pound your team in to dust.

I predict Troy and South will become very competitive rivals. We will be in the same Conference, competing for many of the same recruits. I don't doubt that some day USA will be at the top of the Conference, but that wont be immediate. Prepare yourselves for growing pains, because once you are a full-fledged football member, the rest of the Belt will gunning for you.

My inlaws live in Mobile so i've been kept very up-to-date on the happenings. I look forward to having you guys in the league.

A non-inflammatory post? GASP! Haha

I don't think you said anything just now that any South fan would disagree with. We hope our growing pains are limited, but at the same time realize that some are inevitable. Lest I remind you that this started not because we were supposedly bragging about how dominate we were going to be, but because we were/are dreaming of moving to another conference (as insiders will say has been talked about for years). Just saying.

I really look forward to playing Troy. I agree - I think that is going to be a great rivalry, and we look forward to beating Troy very soon 05-stirthepot 04-cheers

Saying you aspire to something bigger and better is one thing.... hell, we all want that....BUT...some of your boys were doing that while tearing this conference down...

Not cool.

he's right BLEEDITRED, there were quite a few instances where South fans were tearing down the Conference. Suck Belt i believe was the most popular term. Either you want to be a part of the league or you don't. if you don't that's fine by me, but don't come here saying one thing while slamming us elsewhere.

Yes. Why?

Very few people from Troy ever get on the rivals board due to the lack of coverage.
