The Belt seems to have several team with name issues

NTSU => UNT
MTSU => UMT (some say MTU, some say U of Murfreesboro, but UMT seems to be the clear majority opinion) Some say it wouldn't bother them if it stayed the same, some say they WANT it to stay the same.

I really don't care if our name gets changed or not, but I do prefer University of Middle Tennessee (UMT) over Middle Tennessee State University better just because it sounds better when said aloud.

I would prefer to be the University of Middle Tennessee but keep the MT logo.

Actually, the SBC has only one program that is concerned about how another program brands its athletics constantly. And one UNT fan that doesn't get it.

Damn I thought FAU would have been "Why don't we have an on-campus stadium yet?" or "Why do we always have to cry about what FIU does in everything."

I have a friend who tells people she got her undergrad degree at the University of Southwestern Louisiana and her masters at Northeast Louisiana University. I pointed out their modern names and she just says "That's not what my diploma says".

Might see if I can entice her to post in early June when things are boring.

We certainly dont cry about what FIU does, we simply ponder the continued Epic Fail of the Football program and the constant. "Just wait till next year! Were gonna be AWSOME!" thought process despite any evidence to the contrary.

Don't forget ULL for some reason believes they are the University of Louisiana (UL), which only exist in the movie Waterboy. I guess they can't wait to make that illustrious appearance in the Bourbon Bowl...

That right there is just an example of why ULM has lost a lot of interest from fans and alumni. Some are so caught up with names that they just can't see the big picture of things. Why would an alum stop supporting a school simply because of a change in the school's name? Would they stop being someone's friend because that friend changed their name? I highly doubt it. The person is the same, just their name has changed. The same with a university. The memories and education that the university afforded you are the same. The only thing different is the name. To stop supporting the school due to a name change is indiotic, childish and completely insane. Moreover, it just shows that you did not have a genuine and authentic connection to the institution in the first place.

She had little connection with ULM and was only there long enough to get a master's degree. She is from Lafayette and goes back home once a year to visit friends. Holding on to the old name in my opinion is holding on to the time you were there.

I was a huge advocate of the Red Wolves name for ASU, but I get seriously pissed whenever someone talks about downplaying the use of the stAte logo.

I have yet to see a thread on the ULM forum about the shortage of MT merchandise.

Maybe you should worry more about buying light bulbs for your scoreboard at that highschool football stadium you play in? Spend less time concerning yourself with what your flagship calls itself?
