For who question how we replace Chris, this looks like the answer.

Hopefully we can win Monday in this kid's back yard. And hopefully, he will be wearing that ring while he watches it happen.

Eric will be playing for the ring tomorrow. His team won the semi final game today, beating one of the three teams to beat Hillcrest during their regular season. EG had 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists in 32 minutes- leading scorer on his team.

According to sources, so far so good on EG's academics. He's doing the work to be a Flash.

Eric got his ring today. He led all scorers with 18 points, including two clutch free throws when his team was down one in the last 15 seconds, to win the Class 3A Illinois Boys Basketball State Championship in a 58-55 thriller.

Congratulations to EG and teammates. Hope this is the the first of many net cutting ceremonies for him over the next few years.

And Henninger and Massilon Jackson, won the regional today and will be on the way to Columbus.

That's fabulous about Henninger...wouldn't it be great if two of our recruits had rings coming in next year? Hope Henninger and Massilon Jackson get it done.

Feature on Gaines winning the game follows. His line for the championship game was 18 pts, 5 boards, 4 steals and 3 assists. Game MVP- no surprise about that.

I hate that he was a 54-percent shooter from the line, but I love that every story prominently mentions him heading to Kent State.

My Dream School

I know, enough already on Eric Gaines. But you're going to like this interview with the Chicago Sun Times.

EG was voted First Team Illinois All State in 3A, a tough class, by Illinois HS 3A coaches. He was also the top vote getter to the All Tournament Team by AP writers who actually watched the games. I'm not worried that some Sun Times writer who just looked at the recruiting college after the kid's name didn't think he was Chicago Elite; just one more thing to prove as a Flash.

From the pictures he certainly doesn't look like a lanky high school player. If he is as strong as he looks and as good as they say he may walk right in here and take charge!

"Why Kent State? A lot of big colleges overlooked me. I want to make a name for my college instead of going to a school that already has a name."

I like that answer a lot.

Its a great attitude to have. Its too bad more don't have it.
