NCAA/NIT score sheet
As of this moment, of the 28 teams remaining in the NCAA and NIT tournaments, 10 of them (35%) are non-BCS teams.

Interesting to see the WCC and A10 still pretty far up there, and ahead of the big east and acc! Not too bad for the mid-majors!

I think that you will find that very few refer to the Atlantic-10 as a mid-major conference. And there is a reason for that as it was ranked higher than a couple of BCS Conferences this year. And just refer to last night's games in the NIT where the Altantic-10's Rhode Island went on the road to the ACC's Virginia Tech and won, and the Atlantic-10's Dayton went on the road to the Big 10's Illinois and won.

The WCC as a conference is usually included in the category of mid-major, although no one ever refers to Gonzaga as a mid-major. And don't be suprised if St. Mary's doesn't prevail over the Big 12's Baylor tomorrow night.

I would classify teams with RPI's from 175 down to 347 as low majors, those between 75 and 150 mid majors and those with RPI's below 75 as high majors. That could vary from year to year. Obviously Memphis, Gonzaga and others of that ilk would certainly not be classified as mid majors. Unfortunately right now, using this formula, our men's program would be classified as a "EXTREMLY LOW MAJOR".03-melodramatic

Frank Sinatra's recording of "It was a very good year" certainly didn't apply to us this season.04-cheers
