Otto Porter
I've heard his name a few times, not sure if we're in on him or what, but the kid apparently had a legendary game in the Missouri Class 1 Finals today ... supposedly 29 points, and - wait for it - *35* rebounds.

RE: Otto Porter
We are and have been recruiting him for a while now. The 40 ranking means he has not been rated by them. I think the reason he has not been rated is that he didn't play AAU last year. He is an excellant player. I think there is a good chance that he will be a Tiger.

Otto is an extremely good player, high scorer, fearless, and has a strong motor. I have friends in Missouri that says he is being highly recruited by Missouri. He has family members that he plays with that are going to Missouri, so they say.

He would be a good catch for the Tigers if they can get him. He bangs the boards aggressively, one of the best rebounders in Missouri.

He consistently puts up big numbers.

Otto went for 31 points, 20 rebounds, and 8 steals against 6'6" Florida signee Casey Prather (#25 in Class of 2010 ESPN) in the Eiffel Tower Shootout.

Florida commitment for 2010:

If Memphis could get this guy, he would be a steal . . . but his family/friends are going to Missouri.

From the same link you gave it looks like Missouri has some limitations to taking Porter

opens up for 2011. Until then, they're only offering top shooting guards.

RE: Otto Porter
Per Scout.com... Toothpick skinny, Porter isn’t one of those kids who dominates because he’s tall and outjumps everybody on the floor. Instead, Porter uses an incredible skill package to do his work. He’s got a buttery jump shot that is good out to the three point line, can handle the ball quite well for a guy his size, runs the floor, plays patiently and scores with either hand around the bucket. And, if his initial move gets stopped, odds are he’s got a counter move that is just as good, or better.

Playing for tiny 1A school Scott County Central in Sikeston, MO, Otto Porter is emerging as a potential high major target in 2011. Scout.com was on hand Saturday as the skilled and lengthy 6-foot-8 power forward went off to the tune of 38 points and 18 rebounds against Missouri's two time defending class 3A champion Maplewood Richmond Heights.

Otto finished with 21 points and 14 boards against St. Elizabeth in about 2-2.5 quarters. His team, the SCC Braves, won 96-46. Mizzou coach Mike Anderson was in attendance, as well as scouts from Purdue and Illinois.

So far he’s had the likes of Missouri, Memphis, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri State tracking him.

He supposedly has visited Memphis.

COULD HE BE . . . ANOTHER BIG THAT BECOMES A TIGER IN 2011???? 04-jawdrop

My friends in Missouri say that Otto reminds them of WW in body shape, moves, and skill set. If we don't get him . . . it may be interesting to see his name appear in the D1 headlines in coming years. Could be. jmho

Not sure what you read. But, Memphis is definitely looking at this kid (along with sever D1 powers) - He is definitely D1 material . . . "Porter went for 31 points, 20 rebounds, and 8 steals against 6′6″ Florida signee Casey Prather (#25 in Class of 2010 ESPN) in the Eiffel Tower Shootout

OTTO is a 2011 prospect but I just imagine that he will COMMIT well before then.

His cousin (that is close to signing up) is a 2010 prospect but has academic problems. But, Otto has NO problems with academics and Missouri, Missouri State, Mississippi, Iowa, and Arkansas are talking to this guy. Also, Memphis is talking to him.

Just posted in the press:

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP)—March 20, 2010 — Otto Porter scored 29 points and pulled down a record-breaking 35 rebounds to lead the Scott County Central Braves to a 96-47 victory over Pilot Grove in the Missouri Class 1 boys state championship game Saturday.

Porter broke the previous single-game record for rebounds of 26 at the 5:12 mark of the third quarter.

My friends in Missouri say that (6'8" and still growing) Otto reminds them of WW in body shape (tall and skinny), moves, and skill set. If we don't get him . . . it may be interesting to see his name appear in the D1 headlines in coming years.

This guy appears to be a "rebounding machine" . . . he would be a welcome addition in Tiger blue next year. His shooting percentage isn't too bad either . . . 04-cheers

Do you think Memphis is serious about this guy considering JOB is not in the bank yet?
