Took two midmajors with RPI's of 57 (UALR) and Green Bay (66) over majors with better RPI's- 47 Maryland, 52 BC, 54 Michigan, 56 Cal. That would never happen with the men. They took 2 teams who demonstrated excellence throughout the year (GB was 27-4).

Another shocker- USC with an RPI of 38 did not get in. I had no doubt they'd be in. But we were clearly not the last at large team to get in. Green Bay and Fresno had worse seeds. We shocked all the "bracketology" experts. Benefited from a bunch of midmajor folks on the committee. Also I believe we passed what some of the talking heads call the "eye test". Anyone who actually saw us play would realize we are good enough to be in this field.

seedings do not always determine how or when you got put in. they determine who gets in first then seed them. UALR for instance probably got picked after Fresno but is a higher seed. Alot of the seedings were determined so that certain schools could stay close to home. Fresno was probably dropped a seed so they could stay in California and UALR was probably reseeded to go to Memphis. If a team from a major conference would have been included last, chances are their seeding would still be no lower than ten. I am really glad to see you guys make it. It would have been ashamed with the kind of year you had not to get in because of an overtime loss to a team you beat by twenty earlier in the year. I was definitely hoping you would be included.
