Robert...
Since you rarely actually state views on things, and instead just throw insults. I would like to hear your opinions on some topics...

1. The deficit/national debt. What do we do about this problem? I don't want to hear anything about how George Bush spent a lot of money. Yes he did, we know that. What are your solutions? What about any backlash to what you suggest?

2. Tax rates in Illinois? Quinn is proposing a tax hike to pay for the schools. Is this a good idea? Why or why not? Again, what potential backlash could happen?

3. Healthcare. You constantly say the senate bill isn't good, so what is your idea? How much will it cost? Can we afford it? How will it help?

4. Guantanamo Bay/trying terrorists/extracting information. What are your views on this? Are terrorists criminals? Are they freedom fighters? What is an appropriate punishment for terrorists?

5. Guns. Should all guns be banned? If not all, which ones? Do you have evidence to back anything up.

6. Welfare/medicare/social security. Why can't people be responsible for themselves? Why can't people set aside their own money for retirement?

Thanks in advance. I understand if you don't want to answer these questions, seeing as they don't involve slinging mud, but try your best.

1. The deficit/national debt. What do we do about this problem? I don't want to hear anything about how George Bush spent a lot of money. Yes he did, we know that. What are your solutions? What about any backlash to what you suggest? Cut spending and a slight increase in taxes on those making over 250,000(a couple % points not go back up to 70%+). It won't be solved overnight but slow and steady progress. The backlash from the wealthy will be loud.

2. Tax rates in Illinois? Quinn is proposing a tax hike to pay for the schools. Is this a good idea? Why or why not? Again, what potential backlash could happen? I don't know how much the increase will be or what kind of tax increase he is looking at. Very few will like it but cutting taxes(IMO) won't increase the tax roles more than it loses as we go farther into debt(especially in a down economy). I would start by cutting some spending. Not sure how or what to tax but it should be looked at.

3. Healthcare. You constantly say the senate bill isn't good, so what is your idea? How much will it cost? Can we afford it? How will it help? Medicare for all. Don't know how much it will cost. Can we afford to keep the current system? How many more price increases can Americans take? Can we afford thousands of deaths a year because of the lack of healthcare or a large number of bankruptcies?

4. Guantanamo Bay/trying terrorists/extracting information. What are your views on this? Are terrorists criminals? Are they freedom fighters? What is an appropriate punishment for terrorists? [/b].

5. Guns. Should all guns be banned? If not all, which ones? Do you have evidence to back anything up. No. Of course not all guns should be banned. I have no problem with a person having a handgun in their house(or even in a business) for protection. The owner should be responsible for taking training on how to use one and should be liable for misuse. Automatic weapons, anti-aircraft misslies or nuclear weapons should be banned. Do I have evidence to back up what?

6. Welfare/medicare/social security. Why can't people be responsible for themselves? Why can't people set aside their own money for retirement? People should be responsible for themselves. I don't think most would disagree. They can put money aside. Nobody says you can't. Welfare-sometimes your life just blows up and can help a person get back on their feet. Would you rather these people end up on the street begging you for?

Thanks in advance. I understand if you don't want to answer these questions, seeing as they don't involve slinging mud, but try your best.
I am noting your questions are trying to imply tax cuts are the way to go. I just don't think the state can expand its tax base to cover the losses in revenue by a tax cut. Nobody likes tax increases(even me) but sometimes it has to be implemented.

I enjoyed reading your responses and really do appreciate your attention to Bleeds' inquiry.

Do you not agree, that at some level, taxation acts to depress the economy? Could that not be happening in Illinois?

If you believe the time to raise taxes (a little or a lot) is now, when is it time to cut taxes?

Let's consider retired people. We agree that people should be responsible enough to save for their retirement. Don't you think then, that since so many people now rely on social security to support them in retirement, it has created a disincentive to save?
