Has anyone ever heard why they closed practices early in the year?
Must have been because they knew we were bad, and Doc would tell everyone.

I never asked that question, but Joe brought it up when he spoke. Someone else might have asked. He said they wanted the players to be concentrating on what they were trying to teach them, and if spectators were around, the players would be looking around wondering who those folks were instead of concentrating.
Since the only people who were ever there were normally Jeff Slatton, Me and maybe RBL, and the players all knew who we were, so I didn't think it made much sense. And we normally just sat there and observed.
We would speak to the players if they came by to get a drink of water or were sitting down near us, but nothing to distract them on the floor.
But what's done is done. Obviously the closed practice created nothing positive since we had the worse season in a decade and pissed off one fan with whom I'm personally aquainted. As I have said several times since, they should have closed the games to the public instead of practices. That would have been more pleasant in view of our on court performance this season.

I don't want my opinion to be misinterpreted or taken out of context, so let me . preface it be making it clear that I consider Doc and LRT to be personal friends of mine; and despite what others may have implied, Steve is not a personal friend of mine. All that being said, let's be real. If you were Steve, would you really want Doc or Bob at practice? Come on, now. Be honest, everyone.

No, I wouldn't. And, you're still my friend Jim. How the hell could I be offended at a guy when he's right? But, I haven't been to any since I've felt we needed a change.
