Looks like I’m getting my wish
On Feb 23rd I posted on the private board that I wanted Steve to have one more year. It’s looking like I will be getting my wish.

Looks to me that it’s time for Steve to schedule UCA and UAPB rather than D2 schools for next year. Needs to go head to head with UCA (and their new coach) and against UAPB (who may be getting into the NCAAT this year). Need a 4 team 2 day tournament in Pulaski County with UALR and ASU both playing UCA and UAPB but not each other as they already play twice a year. (This has been proposed by others earlier this year) (Lots of luck getting it.)

Of course if the same thing happens against UCA that happened against Harding those of you that wanted Steve gone after this year will be chomping at the bit. (How about it? A game between UALR and UCA for future season ticket holders)

Actually, this may be the year to get the 4 team tournament with UALR, UAPB, UCA, and ASU at Alltel. Especially if UAPB goes to the NCAA tournament. There certainly will renewed and local interest with regard to UCA. ASU fans are excited about next year. We have everybody back. If that doesn't happen, we really need to schedule UCA and UAPB home and home. UCA will draw a good crowd with Corliss and we can't argue we're too good for UAPB if they go dancing. Both would draw crowds (and we need the revenue) and cost nothing to travel to.

I hope you and all the rest of those who wanted Shields gets your fill of him, and enjoy another year of not going to the tournament. Have fun.

UALR won't play UCA or UAPB. They're not at our level.

I think we've embraced the UAF attitude toward other in-state teams. We won't play em. Let's see if I'm wrong.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if UAPB beat us, and if Corliss' name gets him some good players to come in, and it will get him some, we probably won't want to play UCA. Forget the "they aren't at our level" part, could it be that we've dropped down to or below UAPB's level? I can remember a time when UAPB wasn't as good as they are now, and we were better, and they came very close to beating us. And we had a coach(Wimp)that most everyone agrees could coach. Didn't recruit, but could flat coach the ones that showed up.

I don't know about UCA's level yet. They've got some work to do, although after the Harding game, I don't know that they couldn't beat us right now.

I'm not sold yet on the idea that Corliss will be the second coming of Richardson, and I think they hired him for his name and the hog image, but at least UCA did something to stir up the troops. We had the golden opportunity to excite our troops, and we did nothing. And for many of us, doing nothing left a bad taste in our mouths. For all those others, who wanted change, but wouldn't say so unless you were hiding out on the 'private' board. Tough ****, I hope you are ******* miserable from now on.

I actually doubt that being a former razorback player was that much of a factor at UCA. I believe the UCA folks see something in Williamson they like and they actually believe he has a future in coaching. Afterall I don't see that Joe Kleine has done much of anything for UALR attendance. If Williamson does not win big I think it's safe to say attendance won't improve and he will not stay long at UCA. As for as wishing for 1 more year for the Trojan coach. How about permanent, indefinite? How about TENURE? In academia isn't that the word for lifetime, cannot be fired for any reason?

The assistants are supposed to bring in the fans. That's the head coaches job. What has Shields done for attendance? I think it's safe to say that it has definitely gone down in his seven years.
