as a USF fan I could say that the same USF team that beat Pitt, Georgetown and UConn loses to Central Michigan and St Johns.
Just realize that opponents had something to do with those loses. Your team lost 11 games in conference that says that this team is NOT that great playing as a team and you can blame that on your coach or on the players but it gets tiring of you sounding like this UConn team only loses because of itself never because of the opponent.
You would be pissed if I started saying that USF football only loss to UConn because they didnt play well.
Get over it give congratulations to the opponent and move on.

Really? When a team blows out top 10 teams and playing many to a standstill while lose to sorry teams that it has no business losing to, I would say there is something going on with that team mentally not just the opponents. Bad teams don't beat good teams period. They might upset one or two once in a blue moon, they certainly don't take most good teams to the wire constantly. There are some teams UCONN lost to this year you just got to wonder what's going on with these players mentally.

You can look at it any way you like but the bottomline is that a team that is 7-11 in the conference and 17-14 over all is at best an average team

As for prediction for an easy win against USF, show me the post I said that? Don't make up dumb stuff just to make a point, it only make a dumb person look even dumber. I have always said this team is capable of beating any team in the country while at the same time lose to a team like RU. Last I checked USF is a little better than RU. It is not exactly the proudest moment for UCONN to lose to a team like USF, but they did. I have NEVER predicted they would win out. I only said UCONN needs 19 wins to get into NCAA whether from regular season or the BET. Enjoy the win though cause this definitely isn't close to UCONN's average season.

As long as Heath remains at USF our program will get better and UConn will have trouble beating the Bulls in Tampa.
Huskies last two trips to Tampa
2007-08 won 74-73 OT
2009-10 lost 68-75

We have hit our low now that USF fans are talking smack about UCONN basketball. Enough said. Stan Heath is a fine coach which I have said many times. We will see where UCONN is headed after the season. Recruiting is far from done at UCONN for this year.

Rules are made to be enforced. Do you quit enforcing laws to people about to leave the country? Of course not. You got to pay the cost to be the boss. If you break a rule, you should suffer the consequences. IMO, fundamental stupidity should be a punishable offense...

read it again, how did i compare myself to an nba scout? i guess i compared everyone else on this board to an nba scout as well 01-wingedeagle

it's just odd that you somehow believe once in the nba he'll suddenly develop a bball iq and play with effort, when clearly in 4 years at uconn he never got it. he is what he is, a solid long arm defender/rebounder and exceptional dunker, probably a late first round draft pick. maybe a team gets enamored with his athletic ability and picks him slightly higher, but that team will regret it, since that ability doesn't mean squat if you have a ten cent head.

i know you probably think he'll be some sort of charlie villeneuva type who underachieved and had moderate success in the pros, but despite his shortcomings villeneuva was only at uconn for 2 years had one good year as a rookie and disappointed as a sophmore. but even as a sophmore he still was able to get second team all big east honors. what has sticks done in his 4 years? - not even an honorable mention and with good reason. heck even the malcontent dyson managed to get 3rd team honors this year.

and yes i guess you didn't overtly predict a loss to usf, i read your post wrong, probably the only thing you've gotten right for the past month. but i'll give credit where credit is due.

We will see who is right and who is way off. Rudy Gay didn't exactly lit it up either when he was at UCONN but there was no denying he is talented. He is doing fine in the NBA.

LOL. Being All Big East does not mean being All NBA. Like I said, let's see where NBA scouts put him vs. what you are claiming.

Did they break a rule though? If so, then they should have been benched for the entire game. Were they merely not playing as well as the underclassmen would have played? If so, then they should have been benched for competitive reasons, in which case I'm not sure why we're having this discussion. The "benching as a grand gesture" only works if you're sacrificing on-court quality to prove a point. Admittedly, this question is unique to college athletics, as NBA players will still play between gun-related court appearances (unless David Stern steps in).

I'm not convinced that UConn wasn't playing what they believed to be their best possible team, in which case USF beat their absolute best combination of players. To suggest otherwise (and bit, I'm not talking about you since I realize you're not saying this) is doing a disservice to USF and their victory.

They were playing horrible. They started the 2nd half and gave USF a 14 points lead when they were down only 3 at the half. UCONN freshmen who rarely played are the ones who got UCONN back to 2 points in the final 16 mins of the 2nd half. They deserved to be benched period for the way they performed. Calhoun knows they are capable of playing better and that's the frustrating part for both Calhoun and the fans.

BTW, there is no chance in hell all the freshmen that never got sniff of playing time is better than Dyson, Robinson and Edwards. There is a reason why they rarely played until the USF game.

And that's who UConn will be starting next season with the "Cancer 3" out. Better hope those recruits start rolling in here at the end or next year could be ugly. Walker and .....

There is always that possibility. I said they weren't as good now but it does not mean they won't get better. UCONN players have a tendency of getting better before they graduate (See AJ Price, Okafor, Gordon, Thabeet etc.). UCONN does need to land one of the top combo guards in the country. If they do, they will be fine. Both Majok and Oriahki has improved even though both are only freshmen. Both should be much improved by next year. Darius Smith showed some promise and Kemba Walker has improved a ton towards end of this year. If Walker stays, UCONN should be fine. Walker has the talent to be the best PG in the BE if not in the country next year. UCONN will get Roscoe Smith who is a stud. UCONN does needs to land either Knight, Selby or Joseph. If any of the 3 comes onboard, UCONN will be fine.

wasn't rudy gay a top 5 pick, a unanimous all big east first team selection, and he was arguably the best player on the best team in the country during the regular season as an underclassmen. please tell me you're not comparing the two, sticks is a 4 year senior and still no better than the 3/4th option on a 12th ranked be team.

and yes i agree the all be team has no bearing on pro potential, but name me one impact nba player who couldn't even make an honorable mention on an all conference team in 4 years. for crissakes usf alum mchugh freaking mattis, who was an average player on the worst be team got an honorable mention, being on one doesn't mean a damn thing but not being on one in 4 years especially while playing at uconn, says a lot.

I think I know a little about Rudy's game. I have met the guy for Christ's sake. Calhoun is the one who compared Sticks to Rudy in the past. I think I gonna take what Calhoun said over some unknown USF poster on a BE board who knows little to nothing about UCONN or its history.

uh huh, so you met him at some fan rally and now your an expert? 01-wingedeagle

you do know that coaches sometimes embellish the truth, especially when speaking to fans or the media to pump up the fanbase, most knowledgeable people take these comments with a grain of salt. so if that's your arguement than its pretty weak even for you.

and even if calhoun said that in the past, he sure would want to take it back after this year, unless he thinks that gay also has a 10 cent head. last i recall gay didn't get most of his offense on alley oop dunks and putbacks, he actually had a smooth outside shooting stroke that everyone knew would translate well to the nba, which is why he was picked in the top 5 - sticks robinson can only dream of being on that level.
