A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered.

And I honestly think Knight would be more influential in a single year than Bartow would be for 20 (40! Did Murry never leave the house until he took the ETSU job?).
Apparently Knight wasn't THAT influential, we keep playing zone defense.

This is a good point.

Thank you for a quote from the wisdom book. For some reason the term Bible Belt is used in a disparaging way...seems a little degrading....the opposite of Bible Belt is pagan belt or how 'bout depravity belt?

If you prefer living with chronic profanity users... you can have it. I prefer to show respect for those around me by being like Clean Gene. By refraining...I hope you are not offended....but if you are held in high esteem by your foul language...I would like to get a personality profile of the people you are hanging with.

No way that book can be made up. No ones imagination could come up with those stories. The Bible passes all lie detector tests.

Go ahead and quote your fiction books. Could be entertaining.

The curse wasn't profanity. The curse caused the tree to die. Don't use Jesus as an excuse for using profanity.

Mark 11:12-14, 19-25

The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard him say it.

When evening came, they went out of the city.

In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!"

"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

Can we please drop religion from the board? We don't need to go there.

Semantics

Profanity is culturally, not inherently defined.

The bottom line is that if you believe the Bible, Jesus destroyed an innocent fig tree that had the audacity not to have fruit out of season.
