I was curious about how ASU fans feel about this match-up in the tournament.Would they have preferred New Orleans? I personally feel the game is a toss-up. ASU fans may believe they will have little trouble advancing past the Trojans. I believe without a doubt the Trojans feel they have a better chance against the RedWolfs than they would have had with WKU. For sure, the two teams should know each other very well.

I would guess that they'd rather have played N.O., because rivalry games can sometimes make a less talented team play harder than they would have against another team. If it were reversed, I'd certainly rather play the Privateers than ASU.

You never know in rivalry games, I agree. My gut tells me that state gets hot and holds us off even our best effort if not outright stomps us.

ASU fans can't be real happy. Two weeks ago they were sure they had a bye- the last day of the season they still had a shot of earning one. Now they have to play an extremely emotional game against their rival and then WKU if they win. I didn't expect us to make it to Monday, regardless. I think 2 weeks ago, many ASU fans felt they were in a great position to, at least, make the semifinals. Now they are a longshot to get that far.

RE: ASU/UALR #3
As one stAte fan I have mixed emotions about the draw. It is without a doubt as tough a draw as could be possible. I don't doubt ualr will play much tougher against us than UNO would or for that matter ualr will play much tougher against us than the trojans would against WKU, MTSU or FAU. As an aside, I have formed the conclusion that our little rivalry seems to mean more to ualr that it does to stAte.

The upside is that from a fans perspective I am looking forward to this more than I would UNO or FIU. Although our weekend games are going to be a challange if we are still standing Monday we will be a major threat to win it all.

As a stAte fan I am not at all disappointed even though we did not close strongly. A big part of that was our misfortune with the as usual inexplicable SBC scheduling that had us playing WKU twice in the last 6 games after they had gotten well. We have come so far this year with 3 freshmen starter and losing no significant contrbiutors for next year the mood of our fans is one of optimism and not disappointment.

That same inexplicable SBC scheduling had us playing our first ten games before we had gotten well.

RE: ASU/UALR #3
My only point about the scheduling with WKU was that is seems unusual to me to play a team in the other division (or any team for that manner) twice at the end of the year. The unlucky part was that Western was peaking at that time. On the other hand, WKU played in division rival MTSU twice early in the conerence season (and as I recall in back to back weeks). The timing was fortunate for the Raiders.

Our fans arent too happy. Thats proven after we got only 4600 to the Troy game after drawing over 6,000 for WKU. It seems anytime we get a big game for us as a fan base (at you guys, host WKU) we lose a tough game. its a common theme for ASU

but in terms of draw its horrible yet not horrible at the same time. instead of playing a UNO team that is playing their last game together as a team, we get a UALR team that will be together next year and is our instate rivals that just beat us on a miracle earlier in the year. our players should be up for that. Then we draw a Western team that cut our hearts out at home.

we can beat anyone in the conference if we play our best... but with a team of tired ball players and a 8 man rotation at bestm I dont see it happening

Don't forget that Joe Foley won a national championship playing with just six players, so you have at least two to spare. Kids recover very fast, and college athletes should be able to play hard every day at their
ages in in their condition. So if you lose, it won't be because of fatigue. It will be because the other team is better.04-cheers
