So glad Spring Football is around the corner. What position battles are you all looking forward to?

RE: Spring Football
For us, anything on defense. Offense seems pretty well set, except maybe a couple OL positions.

RE: Spring Football
WVU is in pretty much the same position as UC. We get 18 starters back, and the real battles won't start until fall, when some freshmen come in hoping to gain a starting position. Brunetti (due to Smith's recurring foot problems) and OL Quinton Spain are the 2 most likely incoming freshmen hoping for a starting role. IMO Spain will end up with Selvish Capers OT spot on the right side of the line. But there are others who could work their way into the mix, Brunetti chiefly among them. But all that comes in the fall. Spring practice is pretty much settled before it even starts...

RE: Spring Football
At Pitt we got an interesting QB battle. I want to see how the secondary performs, as well as the Linebackers. Theres a spot or 2 worth watching on the OL. But other than that its going to be a quiet spring in Pittsburgh.

For CUse it is all about getting more of Marrone's players in the lineup. GRob's guys are few now. Everything revolves around the QB position. We still are looking for a 12th opponent for the Fall.

Georgetown has two open dates thanks to some late cancellations.

How could Syracuse not sell tickets for a game (and outcome) like that?

RE: Spring Football
BJ Daniels is out, so it will be interesting to see who steps up besides Evan Landi at QB. Maybe 6-4, 230 Issac Virgin? The kid was listed at that size along with 4.5 speed in high school. He maybe a TE longterm but was a heck of baseball player in highschool, throwing >90mph.

The RB position should be a battle to watch for as sophomore Demtrius Murray could potentially make a play for the starting job based on his late season and bowl practice performance.

It will be interesting to see how Parade All American Ryne Giddens competes to replace JPP and George Selvie.Similarly, will former JUCO all american David Bedford push for the other DE spot and fight off a couple rising RS freshmen? Leavitt left that position well stocked for the new staff.

WR is wide open due to graduation and mitchell leaving early for the NFL.

LB is going to see alot of underclassmen competing for time. Barrington played well in the 2nd half of the season as a true frosh and we have some nice looking prospects with great size and speed combo waiting in the wings.

Can't wait for Spring practice....but honestly....for the first time in a long time USF hoops is going to play in the offseason. Football can wait!
OL has some very promising redshirt freshmen returning. Will be interesting to see how they look in Holtz's scheme.

Finally, it's going to be interesting if not ....odd...for a little while to see someone else besides Jim Leavitt patrolling the sidelines for USF. That alone may be the most interesting 'position' on the team this Spring.

RE: Spring Football
For UofL, no doubt it’s the QB spot. We have been used to having a top-notch QB line up for us ever year since the mid-90’s starting with Chris Redman, until Krag brought in his mid-major talent.

We have two freshman QBs coming in that should compete. Dominique Brown, an athletic type who can run from Cincinnati, and Luke Woodley, a pro-style gunslinger from Dallas.

We will be going to a Florida-type spread offense next season. I would be surprised if a true freshman will beat out one of the seniors, at least to start the season.
