RE: Belmont wins tournament - TOURNAMENT THREAD
Lipscomb is pulling hard for JU as they will be the team that goes to the NIT if JU wins the tournament and goes to the NCAA. Jacksonville has ensured that they will play in either the NCAA or NIT.

Mercer's guard play scares me, they're good.

RE: Belmont wins tournament - TOURNAMENT THREAD
I still think Lipscomb should be the team in the NIT, I don't understand how the ASun can decide who to send, I didn't think it worked that way. With that said I'm glad Ben Smith and Jacksonville get another game, I like that team and I think they represent well. If tomorrows game vs. Mercer isn't sold out, Mercer should automatically not be able to host the tourny again. I hope Mercer is exhausted from these games

It's Mercer. We have to battle the crowd plus the Bears. It will not be easy.

Worst game I've ever been to. It was like the hoop for one team was as big as the ocean

It's gonna look great on ESPN2 to have a crowd going wild. A perfect representation for the conference.. it will help validate the game to outsiders.

RE: Belmont wins tournament - TOURNAMENT THREAD
Believe it or not, I would rather play Mercer.

I simply am not a big believer that because a crowd is yelling at you you'll fare worse than if you are playing a better team.

I remember in 1999 the first game the new Cleveland Browns would ever play was at home against the Steelers. I heard fans around Pittsburgh talk about how pumped the Browns were- how their crowd would be ready- all of it. How the Steelers would be lucky if they could win.

Final score- Pittsburgh 43, Cleveland 0. I think the Browns had two first downs in the game.

The talent level between JU and Mercer is probably a bit more even than it was that day between the Steelers and Browns, but the point still stands. I think the Bucs are fortunate to draw Mercer.

RE: Belmont wins tournament - TOURNAMENT THREAD
I agree, we're better off playing Mercer than Belmont. Maybe better off compared to JU, since the Bucs have had the Dolphins number, and JU may be due against ETSU. But Mercer is senior laden & talented. A win for the Bucs would be a huge win for certain. I hope Mercer comes out a bit tight. I expect the Bucs will have their typical slow start, I just hope they don't get too deep in the hole to dig out. Mercer is better than Kennesaw; a 15 point hole will be a deeper hole in this game.

As crazy as it sounds there are some players who prefer a hostile crowd over a home crowd.

I like what Rick Byrd said in his post game press conference. He just likes playing in places where people care. Whether it's for him or a against him. A direct shot at the ASUN....where nobody cares.

You have to respect Rick Byrd. Even though you also have to hate him.
