Basketball........ If I remember correctly the attendance figures for the NHL and NBA were virtually the same for 2009 weren't they.

It was moving, IMO, to see and hear the Canadian fans and players sing their national anthem. If we have to lose, then let it be to our steadfast neighbor.

God how I love the close mindedness os some Americans. Thanks for making us look good. Have you ever stepped foot in Canada? Spend a day in Vancouver or Toronto, or in some of the vast open areas and get back to me.

I agree and have been lucky enough to have visited both places. Both were unique and lovely in very different ways. I enjoyed the hockey game, though I know next to nothing about the sport and I wanted the USA to win. I appreciated both teams efforts. My only real disappointment was that I wanted to see a shootout, shootoff or whatever it is called. Great games by an excellent neighbor!

Hockey is a great sport that doesn't translate very well to TV.

We have a couple of Canadians in our company and I have several business partners in Canada I talk to weekly...

I am all for pride in our country... but why we have to crap on our friends to the north is beyond me. My god didn't we win enough?

Congrats to Canada to the Gold in Hockey...

It's a shame we're not in a Cold War with Canada, or else this would have been a huge deal.

Damn, I love Thomas Paine. I am very glad he left England to come over here and help foment our revolution.

My dream is to visit his home in the Hudson Valley.

Hockey is relevant in Canada, Football is relevant in the US. Both are irrelevant worldwide.

The rest of the world is irrelevant in the US.

...and you are irrelevant to the rest of mankind.

...coming from the guy in Shawnee, KS.....

..yup...a guy who lives in one of the 10 richest counties in the US. nice try, big guy. I love the city of Memphis otherwise I could have made some pretty vile comments about your excellent neighborhood.

Useless post. The people there are very friendly and the sites of that country are second to none. Crawl back in your hole and wake up in 4 more years.

While I agree that it will have little to no affect on the preception of hockey here, much like the World Cup in men's and women's soccer, hockey is a great sport. NHL playoff games are some of the most intense sporting events there are. It's just not for everyone.
Watching professional hockey on High Definion Television or in person to me is best sporting experience. To watch it any other way it is lost to me any other way. The game was a great spectacle in my humble opinion. I do not know besides the Olympics or the NHL will people if the most part will care. I think they are too much options in life. However, if wish it was much different for that sport. I was born in Saint Louis and hoped it would be different for them. The strike and lack of transferability minus some people not watching it in HDTV to me hurts hockey.
